What's new

Raja Barf getting an attitude about playing time.

You're right, some hookers can be very respectable citizens. They probably don't live in Las Vegas though.

I can see why it's so hard to not succumb to that lifestyle. I find it very difficult to be constantly turning down beautiful, naturally-born young ladies and there money they try to throw at me. If I weren't so strong, I could cave .. but it's hard to have to daily fight the good fight.

Okay .. I lied about all that.

Nope. They live in Carson City, or thereabouts.

Umm, that is what I heard. From other guys I don't know. At the mall.

So how about that Raja Barf. Some guy huh?

What does he have to do with the respectable citizens in Carson City?

I have a much different take on this article than most of you. It is clear to me that Raja is figting father time and he hasn't grasped the concept yet. It happens to everyone eventually. We reach an age where we know more, but can't perform as well. Its clear this is happening to Raja. He looks around and he sees Burks who is a babe compared to him, doesn't really understand the offense or defense nearly as well as him, and yet produces more on the court. All Athletes go through this. In Raja's mind he is the top SG on the team deserving of time and minutes. In everyone else's mind he needs to be benched never to see the light of day.

Corbin has been giving Raja a starting role even though the entire fan base is shouting to bench him because he knows Raja knows the game, offense and defense, inside and out. Corbin has let him play to see how he performs, but has been giving him a quick hook. Raja doesn't understand because he hasn't come to grips with the fact that he is older and slower and simple not as good as he used to be and not as good as the youngster. Raja needs to come to grips with this fact quickly because Raja has a role to play as a mentor to the young guys. Ohh once in a while he might have a good game, but at 35 professional basketball is in the rear view window and not the windshield.

Not now, Babe.

Sheesh, who is this old guy?

Hell, with Raja it is practically in the handicapped parking stall in a minivan with a lift-gate.

You guys got this wrong. 35 is not old for life, its old for professional basketball. I don't know your age but when I turned 32 my bball skills started to diminish. I love basketball and have played recreationally most of my life (still play now in my 50's), but I don't play competitive basketball anymore and haven't for a long time. Yes I can stand out at the three and hit 8 out 10 shots in practice with no one guarding me, but in a game I'm lucky to hit 3 out of 10 against other senior citizens. As you get older you don't drive at all and you play matadore style defense. Raja is old to be a professional athlete and his skills are diminished. He just doesn't see yet.

I don't know your status, but I'm pretty sure you aren't a professional athlete with world class medical experts and trainers. There are 40ish-50ish year old guys who play at my gym from time to time and they mostly suck, but they can all launch 3's with ease. They are the most annoying people to play with/against.
