2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I would be quite excited about that. Those kids have crazy bodies and talent but his shot isn’t broken. He went from 22% from 3 on 2 attempts to 33% on 5 attempts in a year. Pretty impressive improvement and it LOOKS workable.

I honestly don’t get the hype with the twins… hot take I know. They were ranked in the 20’s in HS and didn’t even dominate against subpar competition but yet they’re somehow top-10 locks? Don’t see it. Someone explain that to me.

I think the biggest thing for me is that he adapted his game from this pie in the sky concept of a point forward into a serviceable big, which is nice, but at the same time doesnt do a lot for how I view his upside.
Okay but does that mean that upside no longer exists? I would argue the opposite in that he learned how to be a big in a year. I don’t think him expanding his game erases his base.

There are 30 g league teams... 360 college teams... Take the top 50 bigs from college basketball compared to the top 50 in the g league and I'd go ahead and guess the g league's are as good or better... and they aren't spread over 12x as many teams.

They jump real high man... like really high.

I just think whatever upside he has is rooted in energy big who rebounds/hustle/gets easy baskets, not a 3pt shot or creating half-court offense.

They are insane athletes and specimens. The entire package in that regard. There’s running and jumping, but then there’s the effortlessness and the smoothness. They obviously have basketball talent.

Amen scares the **** out of me but I think Ausar is more than worthy bet at #9 since he already plays off ball and is a much better shooter. He’s less impressive with the ball in his hands and as an athlete, but that’s a tradeoff I take.

Edwards from the athletic is saying the pistons really like Hendricks & Ausar. Could be smoke but that could be one possible trade-up opportunity for us if we want Cam

"[Edwards] Im hearing the Pistons will be strongly considering 5 prospects if they stay put at No. 5: Amen and Ausar Thompson, Cam Whitmore, Jarace Walker & Taylor Hendricks. Hendricks, in particular, impressed in front of Pistons execs & coaches. Ausar also has some big supporters in the Pistons’ FO"

It’s all basketball. And I’d rather a guy be able to get on the floor playing big ball and working in perimeter skills than a big awkward guard that can’t get on the floor.

He can string a few good dribbles together and he was great finishing around the basket. At his size and athleticism that could end up being a 20 ppg guy at some point. Playing hard is a skill and guys that size that play hard help you win. If the others stuff works then watch teh eff out.

Hendricks makes too much sense for the Pistons IMO. I'm not a Hendricks guy, but he fits the team to a T. If they love him it's probably too risky for them to trade back w/ Utah because he could go anywhere 6-8, but maybe it's something that could happen.
