2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Well them taking Hendricks at 5 wouldnt greatly change anything.

If the reports are to be believed, there is a general top 8 or 9 and unless someone outside of that is taken in the top 8/9, things will stay mostly the same.
It would change who drops to us though.

Also, a good Utah Jazz comp for Ausar Thompson is probably Ronnie Brewer?

Similar builds/length/size/athleticism.

People forget but Brewer was a point forward at Arkansas and was more or less the starting PG for the Razorbacks all 3 years he played in college.

The whole arm thing really limited him from ever being a consistent shooter and Sloan pigeonholed him into a specific NBA role, but maybe if the arm thing didnt exist and he played in the modern NBA, he could be a big bodied PG.

It would eliminate Hendricks from dropping to us. The Jazz would still have the same amount of options to choose from of the consensus top 9.
Everything has a ripple effect

better potentially and different for sure.

Well, it’s all based on evaluations. Of course he could be better than people picked behind him at 5.

I think Cam and Black are better than him for sure but Jarace is a tough one for me in comparison to Hendricks. So him going 5 would help push Cam/Black/Jarace down to us.

Lets say top 4 are Wemby, scoot, miller, amen and then Detroit goes Hendricks.

Orlando - Cam or Ausar? Walker? Lets say they break Indiana's heart and go Walker.
Indiana - Cam not a phenomenal fit but still might go there. Benny don't pass so might not work. Ausar no showed... this is where they may reach for Dick or trade back.
Washington - Who they hell knows... I'd guess if Cam is there they do backflips and take him.
Utah - If Hendricks goes 5 i don't think there is any way Walker gets past Indiana. So it might be Ausar still... but this would also mean Black is on the board.

Definitely. He would be one of the most athletic players in the history of the franchise.
Gives me nightmares of Deshawn Stevenson. No thanks.

I would be quite excited about that. Those kids have crazy bodies and talent but his shot isn’t broken. He went from 22% from 3 on 2 attempts last year to 33% on 5 attempts this year. Pretty impressive improvement and the mechanics LOOK workable.
This is good to hear. I have been a hater but that is encouraging.
