2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Been catching up on all the posts and fwiw my ideal draft night would be Walker, Bufkin and Whitehead. Countdown is on!!

I would be pretty stoked about that draft.

Speaking of stoked, i miss that dude. I hope he is ok

Dalls is in win now mode. Bilal is a project. If you're Dallas you trade the 10 for someone who can keep luca in Dallas. The biggest project in the top 17 players isn't that guy.

I don't think there's anyone Dallas can trade #10 for that will keep Luka in Dallas. Guys like John Collins and Lu Dort aren't going to change that franchise.

The Jazz are obviously interested in Bilal. I don't think it's a huge leap to think we would take him at 9, although it mostly feels like there is a game going on between us and OKC.

My guess/hope is we wouldn't take him that early. I am kind of coming around on him though, and I'm seeing a role he could play in the league. I just think there is too much risk with not enough upside at 9.

I like bilal but im hoping at 9 to get a player than can play now and help us win. Im impatient and dont want to tank again. I feel like bilal will need more time to develop than some of the other guys we could take at 9

I’m good. At 16 I guess but dude gets no separation… if he actually shoots the **** outta the ball I could see some Ingles stuff maybe. I’d still keep him around where I had him at 20 iirc.

Im just gonna start referring to jhs as “long two”
He seems to love to take long twos. I hate that

Nobody cares where you draft a player. If you want Bilal, you draft him wherever you can get him. Trading up from #16 might not turn the trick, unless we can convince Dallas to give us #10.

Thing is though, why wouldn't Dallas just take him at #10? If I'm Dallas and Bilal just falls in my lap, I go meet him at the airport. I'm not going to pass on him, just because I need to get Javale McGee off my books.

Why doesnt dallas take him? Cause they have aspirations to win chips quickly. Bilal is gonna take some time.

I’m still a GG buyer just not at the 9th pick due to his mentality and availability of Hendricks and Black’s shooting coming around.

At 16th if we need a guard then he’s out also.

At 28th he’s a no brainer swing for the fence type pick imo.
who says black's shooting is coming around. i dont see it. its is my biggest worry with black.

The negative box +/- (BPM) is crazy, too. It’s alarming because the separation between the stars/starters and bench players is just massive in the NCAA such that you basically never see that from a high-end draft prospect.

The other problem with that in Indiana’s case is word on the street is they were scrubby as hell beyond he and TJD. Or at least they couldn’t shoot for ****.

On the shooting, not many of those highlights were in any way contested. And yeah, the off-the-dribble 3 at 37% is intriguing but that is offset by his strangely poor catch and shoot.

I still just have a hard time buying on JHS. Feel is super important as is passing and I think he’s probably the best of every lead guard prospect, but it does not appear to show up in the numbers.
