I wouldnt call it a war... if the winner only ponied up a couple seconds... that's a slap fight. I am guessing it would have been like 9/16 for 7/26... Woj seemed to indicate we had investigated trading those picks and had an opportunity to do so. It could have been 9/28 to get to 7 but Indy already had to pawn off some picks in that range.

Also, this is why @infection and I harp on stock piling second round picks... that inventory is helpful in winning some minor deals.

Indy didnt want more picks this year. They were already working to sell off their picks. They werent even trying to package picks to move up. They wanted future capital.

There's no way Indy wanted more picks this year. They sold most of their picks they had in the draft. If they were asking for stuff from Utah it would have been future draft capital.

They don’t gain more picks in that deal they move up from 26 to 16.

Indy didnt want more picks this year. They were already working to sell off their picks. They werent even trying to package picks to move up. They wanted future capital.

Thats the same amount of picks... just makes the 26 pick have much better value... they didn't want all those picks in the 20s and 30s. They ended up keeping 26... so I'm guessing that is what the deal would have been.

Why wouldn’t they want to move up 10 spots when they made a pick at 26 regardless?

In this case I would take Hendricks/George over Jarace/26 or Bilal/26.

I'm pretty confident Bilal is going to be an absolute stud and Utah will really regret not paying up, but hopefully Hendricks works out so it's not a massive regret.

Again, I think the difference between Washington's offer and Utah's offer is that Washington can threaten to take Indiana's guy (Jarace Walker) at #8 ahead of the Pacers if the Pacers trade with Utah. So it forces the Pacers to trade with the Wizards instead. The 2RPs are meaningless really. In the process, Indiana gets to verify who it is that WAS and UTA want to draft, in case they were entertaining other trade scenarios.

Yep. It was an obvious top 8 by the end. And no one wanted to trade out of those picks.

Sure, but if they were entertaining a bidding war they must have been OK with the risk if Utah paid for it.

I'm just interested as to what the asking price was.
