2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Ya. I dont think anyone was higher on Cam than i was or more pissed that we passed on him at 16 than I was but im at the point now where i think it was the right move to pass on him twice. Still scared he gets it together and becomes a star but if he doesn't like to work then i doubt that happens.
He is going to regret his aproach to the pre draft process, sandbagging etc. I mean if he is not gifted usage on a Rockets now loaded with athletes and high usage on ball dominant players.
I think he was actually trying to steer his path away from rebuilding tankers, then ended up on the worst one.I think because his camp felt his window to compete at a high level is right away not in 5 years.
He is by and far the most physically nba ready prospect in the draft outside the twins and the Rockets are goigt to be 15 wins better in one offseason just adding him and Amen, unless they tank again.

Take out the Whitmore weirdness and I think my final big board for the Jazz was basically dead on?

My Jazz top ten 5.5 hours out from draft time.

1. Wemby
2. Scoot
3. Miller
4. Amen
5. Black
6. Ausar
7. Walker
8. Whitmore
9. Bilal
10. Hendricks

4-8 is tough, like all those dudes.

Idk if that’s a good thing or not. Maybe they had Bilal even higher.

Jazz offered 2 FRPs to Detroit to move up to #5. Surely, they would have offered at least a FRP to move up to #7.
Not necessarily. The pick difference is meaningless unless you know who's on the board. Maybe they were willing to give 2 firsts only for one player and that player got picked at 5. After that they probably didn't think there is big enough difference between prospects to warrant giving up a 1st.

I can’t figure out why OKC was so aggressive in moving up to 10. Probably trying to block another team I guess but Dallas wants Lively… Orlando just took Black so doubt they were gonna go Wallace… why take on 22M of dead salary to get a guy you likely we’re gonna get? Did they think we’d move up? Weird.
Yes, they probably were blocking another team trying to make the exact same trade...

I think that was part of it…. I also wonder if the GM didn’t want to use cap space and this is part of the guise. Like rolling a trade exception forward type of thing.

They just drafted Wallace… is that a bit of a Dort replacement… add Dorts salary to Bertans and you have a max contract type of trade offer you can make… it was just curious to me as I think Dallas would risk losing Lively if they traded back too far. Only other team that is in that range that could take on that salary is us really… it was just kinda weird I guess.

The next super-amazing draft is supposed to be 2026 with Cam Boozer, Cooper Flagg and Koa Peat. Jazz will have its own pick, plus potential swaps with both Cleveland and Minnesota.

That’s going to be a crazy draft. The great thing about swaps is it can happen after the lottery.
