Utah Jazz roster 2023-2024

Hi all the Utah Jazz followers. The new season is just starting and i am just thinking what are your thoughs about the Utah Jazz´s current player roster in 2023-2024? Here are my thoughs:

Starters (5):
Clarkson - I am fine with Clarkson. I think that his contract is ok for Jazz now and he brings the needed shooting and the offensive creation capabilities for the Jazz. Probably will not be around anymore when the "current main roster" peaks and so i think that he will be therefore traded in the future for new strategic assets.
THT - Still little question mark as the starting point guard, needs to still improve his outside shooting and playmaking skills/capabilities. I like him though, he is still young and is like human wrecking ball when playing aginst smaller opponents at the point guard position.
Lauri - A good and effective team player, who seems to be like being in Utah. A good piece to build around.
Collins - Still a little question mark, mainly because of that hand situation. But it seems to be mostly ok now and i think that he will have a quite steady and good season. Brings a much needed athleticsm to Utah Jazz´s front court rotations. Probably a good piece to have around and has a lot of potential to be a valuable part of the team´s future front court rotations, especially at a "power forward" spot.
W. Kessler - A good defensive player and starting center, who just needs to improve his shooting touch, especially from the free throw line. A good piece to build around.

Main bench (10):
Sexton - A potentially very good 6 man type player, which has some potential to even be a starter is some team rotations. A good piece to have around or to use as a strategic asset when trading for some star type player in the distant future.
Ochie - A kinda steady performer, a 3 & D-player, who brings some needed athleticsm to Jazz´s back and front court rotations. Probably should improve his ball handling and passing capabilities. A good piece to have around.
Dunn - A very good backup Point guard, a defensive specialist who is avery steady performer in these days. Might even fight for starting job, especially if he can keep up the current shooting touch from 3pt line. A very good and potentially even cheap piece to have around.
Olynyk - A good passer and steady team player. Probably should play as a backup player in better teams. A good piece to have around now. but will probably be used as a tradepiece in future trade considerations.
George - Looks as a very good point guard/combo guard prospect to Utah jazz future backcourt rotations. I like his attitude and offensive capabilities - especially the shooting touch. A good future piece to build around.
Hendricks - A athletics big man with some shooting capability. Runs floor well for his size. Seems to have some rookie struggles now, but seems to be improving. Should probably see some time in G-league to play more minutes in the bigger role. A good future piece to have around.
Fontecchio - Fontechhio is a ok player, who probably could shoot the ball a lot better than we have seen in a jazz uniform so far. Probably just needs just a more time and a bigger role to show his skills, but i doubt that it would happen in Jazz´s uniform, mainly because of his older age. Would probably be a great player in the Euroleague though.
Samanic - Samanic is a ok player, which can be used in many front court rotations when the extra body is needed. Not really a big strategic piece to have or build around.
Yurtesevic - A good and steady backup center, who probably should be keeped around, especially if the price is right.
Sensebaugh - Have some promise as a offensive player, not sure about his current role in the team now. Needs to play in G-league first to get a shape and collect some much needed experience.

Other bench level players (Rest of players in the roster):
Some ok players (mainly Potter, Juzang) , who could have a place in the roster, especially if a extra body is needed because of teams´ situational needs, like in the case the team is dealing with some players´ health problems.

Coach:
W. Hardy. - I like him a lot, seems to be a good coach. Very young, so he is still learning the ropes, but its looking good. A good piece to build around.

In the team level I think that Utah jazz will again supprise the people and will win more games in season 2023-2024 than in the previous season 2022-2023. I estimate that the team will win probably about 44-46 games this year, mainly because the team has a very deep roster and therefore can play hard through a whole regular season. In playoff time the current roster will probably lost in the first round against the teams with more A-class players/superstars.

Waiting for your thoughs and views about the current Utah Jazz 2023-2024 roster :)

The bulk of the Jazz's scoring is going to come from Lauri and Clarkson. They developed some chemistry last year, and I think they'll build on it. Clarkson was deferring a lot during pre-season. I think he'll get enough shots up to build his rhythm. I also think Keyonte will play behind him as his understudy.

I don't know what to think about Horton-Tucker. He's wild and unpredictable, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. I actually think he should be playing off the ball as a second-side playmaker and slasher. I wouldn't make him the starting PG, and I'd limit his touches to situations where he's not going to completely break the offense. Both he and Kris Dunn are defensive playmakers, and that's something the Jazz lacked last year.

I would start Kris Dunn at PG, or at least I would have him in the closing lineup. His perimeter defense is the best on the team, and his ability to get deep in the paint and finish with his floater is underrated. He needs to be playing 25+ minutes if the Jazz are serious about winning games.

I think Keyonte is going to get 15 - 20 minutes per night. He'll get a regular stint in both halves. Some of this may be to get him developmental minutes, but the Jazz may need his scoring later in the season.

The Jazz have been trying to play Fontecchio as a big guard who shoots off of movement. That's the best approach to bring out his gravity as a floor spacer. He needs to shoot well enough to justify playing him in that role. As awkward as he can be sometimes, he has some scoring instincts and can get to the rim. This might have been an experiment to try during pre-season, and he could end up out of the rotation due to his inability to guard space. I think I've seen him make 3 passes all pre-season.

I'm interested to see what the Jazz do with Samanic. Probably they keep him as insurance at least up until his January guarantee date. He's someone who could be filler in a trade, or who could be promoted to rotation minutes if the Jazz trade Olynyk towards mid-season. Hendricks obviously isn't ready, so maybe that gives Samanic some breathing room for now. Personally, I like Micah Potter as much as Samanic.

Hendricks and Sensabaugh are going to play much of the season in the G-league, imo. I think that's where Josh Christopher ends up too, since he's on a 2-way contract.

We have a lot of good players, but the fit doesn't look great on paper and we're missing connector type players.

We're also missing a rotation level front court player. Ideally Hendricks would have fit in there, but he's not ready yet.

I suspect Dunn is going to start with Clarkson at the 1 and 2, with Sexton and THT coming off the bench together (hence why Hardy has been playing them together in the preseason).

Our #9 pick aint looking great, and our #16 pick has come back to earth. I think Ochai will have an improved season, and I think Collins will be good.

If Dunn can be a competent PG that puts other players in the right spots on offence, we are comfortably a play-in team.

So Hardy just started THT for 5 games for ***** and giggle

THT will get minutes because he is the tallest and best lob passer. With our bigs we will need that but I don't think it matters if he starts or not. Hardy is really going to do the 6 guards will get a lot of time thing.

My best guess is that Keyonte/Dunn are in/out of the lineup throughout the year. It's just hard to play a 10 man rotation

Yeah, it would just be wild to bench THT after he played well and you used all that time getting him acclimated with the starters vs never starting Dunn then suddenly starting him.
Agreed. Even if my preference is Dunn, THT played well enough to keep/win the job imo. He was great all pre season.

Agreed. I think Keyonte will get less minutes than most of us expect. Unless there is an injury or we lose way more games than expected. On the other hand Keyonte played more minutes than any other guard during preseason so I have no clue really.
