This purgatory business sucks. I’m here for a rebuild and play the young guys…I’m also here for a run at the playoffs, but this middle of the road trash is not it.
When you trade for John Collins, imo, you made the decision to try to make the playoffs. So make moves to make the playoffs. Trading for Lavine doesn’t mean that THIS is the move to get us to a title, he is just a piece like Collins that we can move at a later date and use in the meantime to get to the playoffs.

maybe he’s not the answer but an upgrade at point guard is absolutely necessary if the playoffs are the goal this year.

We don’t own any of our own picks until 2027 because of the protections on the 2024 pick we sent to OKC for Favors(the pick conveys to OKc in 25 and 26 before going away). That’s why I want us to make the playoffs this year. So we can have our picks starting in 2025. We are kind of hamstrung at the moment.

Also, the rumors that the jazz were in on Jrue makes me think Danny is thinking the same thing. Make the playoffs, own all of our picks. Plus the 2024 draft isn’t “great”.

Any Lavine takers? He is under contract for the next 3/4 years (player option). Lifts your talent level Immediately. Obviously he is not the ”future” but if we are trying to make the playoffs, he could really help.

What would you trade for him? Obviously you need to add contracts…THT (send him home), Sexton and Olynik gets this deal done with 1 or 2 FRP.

As why is it so hard for people to sacrifice the playoffs so we can win a chip. Why is this still a thing just trying to make the playoffs?

Lavine is probably the third guy you add to your team once you've established your All Star-level core. Right now the Jazz have one All Star-level player, but otherwise don't have an established a core.
