Who is the Most Serviceable Player We can Get for THT?

We might be lucky to get anyone at all. Maybe a couple of end of bench dudes somewhere from a non-contender.

THT probably shouldnt be a starter next year, but I still think he will make an excellent 6th man. Would be bonkers to trade him unless he's part of salary matching to get a perfect fit kind of player.

Also it's really funny how much we lament spacing making the Jazz's game so much harder. What if we actually gave THT some spacing?

I know it's harder to construct a spaced lineup with THT, but it's not that hard in the modern NBA. He currently plays in a starting lineup with only 1 shooter who is above average. Clarkson is streaky, Collins can only hit from the corner, and Walker is a non-existent offensive threat anywhere on the court. We should be praising him for how well he has played. The early season advanced stats reflect that as well.

Ultimately it's why he probably can't be a starter (maybe he improves his shooting enough one day), but as a 6th man it will work very well. Jazz just need to upgrade the team's shooting. Get another PG who can shoot it well (to backup Keyonte or start until he is ready), get some wings/guard who are actual strong catch and shoot players (OG would be a great get for that), and maybe another 4/5 type who can shoot it with more volume than KO (fingers crossed for Hendricks).

That is the issue though and its not exclusively his fault. Sexton - Best as a 6th man... JC too... THT could be that type. Add it all together and its cringe AF.

Right now my solution would be to work Sexton into a trade for a real pg and trade JC later for expirings and seconds or a first if you can get it. Or throw THT into a deal with Sexton and move JC back to the bench.

I don't think Sexton's deal is bad money... but I'd just want to get off of that type of money and pay less for the 6th man type.

Yeah, getting off Sexton would be my primary focus. Would the Wizards ever entertain a straight up swap of Sexton/Jones? Jones can walk next year. Sexton is at least under contract. He's a terrible fit with the Wizards, but maybe the Wizards say yolo and just go for talent.

I'm a hater, but he's not terrible, but I just dont like the fit. Ainge in the past has said he wants to focus on size, and that just isnt Sexton. THT's defense is far from perfect, he makes mistakes and sometimes gets blown by flat-footed, but his size and length is just tremendous on help defense and he provides actual defensive pressure with deflections. We need more guys like that and less guys like Sexton. Even when Sexton plays solid D, it's still bad D. He tries hard, but he still has 0 steals on the season.

Clarkson overall is still worth keeping long-term. He's on a great contract after this year and you can always move him to the bench.

Bonkers huh?

Lauri bucket assists from our guards:
THT 19 in 134 minutes together (1 per 7 minutes)
Clarkson 7 in 149 minutes (1 per 21 minutes)
George 6 in 84 minutes (1 per 14 minutes)
Sexton 6 in 71 minutes (1 per 12 minutes)

THT doing what he is supposed to do, so leave him be for now.
