I don't normally complain about this stuff, but is there a reason Evans isn't seeing any game time? Do we hate getting easy baskets and hustle play?

You can't get him in 5-6 minutes a game coach?

Right now the Jazz have their four best players playing two positions. Their highest scorers, and then backing them up are two 3rd overall picks in consecutive drafts that defend and board like mother-****ers.

But I love Evans. He just has to find those minutes as a 3 or someone has to go down.

I guess the coaching staff hates the term "early-oop" as much as I do so they keep him out of the games so they don't ever have to hear it.

See how damaging Bolerhack is to the team? I am sure that is why Hayward is being so tentative; he doesn't want Boler to make up some inane stupid catch-phrase that will stick with him the rest of his career.

I like seeing him sky above defenders for dunks as much as anyone else but...

he's overrated
he's not that good
he doesn't do anything but dunk
he doesn't help us win

Lol this ^^
I doubt David Benoit would do much to help us win with mulitple DNP's to possibly 1-3 minutes a game would he?

I love Jeremy. He's not going to start helping us win or get any better if he doesn't get on the floor. It is crowded out there, but it's hard to believe there aren't a few minutes for him at least a game or two a week.

You nailed it. I have heard Ty say a number of times he hates easy baskets and players that hustle.

As soon as some one goes down with an injury, and it will happen in this condensed season, Jeremy Evans will produce some hot **** for us all to squeal at. It's going to be awesome. Especially if he takes CJ's spot in the lineup.

Evans is not better than anybody currently playing his best position. If he could play as a SF I'd would love for him to play. But they must not think he can play that spot. And I'm not sure if he's any better than Howard or Hayward anyway.

I just don't see a way to give him minutes. If anybody gets hurt he will see minutes. Until then I just don't see it.

Evans needs to play so he can develop. I love watching him play. He averages 5 minutes per game in the games he does play in - I think as the season progresses and legs get tired, we'll see more of him. The best thing about him are a lot of his scores swing the momentum toward our team, since they tend to be wild dunks that fire up the Jazz.

You'd think somebody that can jump like that would be able to play good D as a SF for 10 minutes a game, so its a bit of a mystery to me too.

Can he not move horizontally, just vertically?

Two things:

1) He looks to have a high center-of-gravity to me, I'm not sure he can guard the perimeter well enough to guard 3s full-time. But maybe he can.
2) Offensively, he hasn't proven he can play on the perimeter (not a confident shooter, probably not good at running people off of screens, and certainly not a ballhandler).

But I still think his best chance to get minutes, make money, and help his team win is as an extremely long 3. Even if he has already put in the work to get there, it's going to be hard for him to find opportunities.

Jeremy Evans is a small forward. He is not a power forward. Hayward is a shooting guard not a small forward. Evans should start at small forward and have Hayward start at shooting guard.

I love Evans. I love watching him sky and dunk.
He's definitely a crowd pleaser.

There are only so many minutes to give out to 12 players. Right now, he is the odd man out, for reasons already stated here.

But I don't get this idea that he should get more minutes to develop. Yes, he is athletic, but that doesn't mean he's a great NBA player.
Giving a player a lot of minutes is not a guarentee that he will get better. A lot of players get minutes and still suck.

So far this year, when Evans has played, he hasn't done much. Just a fact.

I'll trust Ty and the coaching staff on this one

Just because some is listed at SF on the stat sheet doesn't mean he has to shoot from outside. I wonder if Evans could guard SFs, and post them up on offense, just like write4u always wanted AK to do, but was never done, apparently.

I wonder if Evans at the 3 might be a good help defender in a zone defense, but it is hard to say without seeing it.

Evans is too weak to use strength in his game and perimeter players generally need to be able to spread the floor. At least if they want to win and/or get real rotation minutes.

Well, Ty and the coaching staff DO see it everyday in practice. That's why I usually trust their judgement.

You do realize they have had 1 practice up till the Lakers game. This year it is going to be difficult for young players to earn playing time in practice.
