The way he left was disrespctful. He quit on the Jazz organization at a tough time. And his QUITING! got Deron traded. He turned his back on us. And now he wants to coach again? Sounds like he has something against utah. Screw him. I dont care what he did for us. Thats in the past. If he ever makes his way in the ESA again he should have beers thrown on him and booed out of town

Yeah, I guess keeping a small market team in Utah and helping it become a competitive and incredibly respectable organization by taking it to the playoffs multiple years isn't really anything special. Not only that, but stamping a blue collar work ethic on the organization wasn't really a good idea either and neither was staying loyal to the organization for one of the longest times in the history of sports.

Yep, 20+ years of work and dedication ruined by one press conference. Sad.

If you're going to close tags, at least use the proper slash.

Boooo!

He taught to leave it all out there and work your hardest and then quit towards the end of the season.

Why am i not suprised?

Jerry earned the right to go on his own terms. If Sloan had just quit on the team (no way that's what happened) I don't think Johnson would've followed Sloan, and yes Deron AKA Satan had something to do with it.

I think looking back it worked out for the Jazz Ty was able to get some coaching experience, instead of coming in cold trying to figure things out in a lockout shortened season with almost no training camp.

Wow. Really? Jerry Sloan has done more for the game of basketball than what any coach in the world reguardless of the sport may ever do. You must be a young kid who's all about wanting to see a team attempt 25 three pointers per night. Do you know what Jerry Sloan has accomplished in his career? What has caused your head to be lodged up your culo so far? There are 22,000 fans at ES arena that would be happy to helpyou unloge your cranium from your ******. It may take all 22,000.

I think it was a combination of things that led to the blow-up: trading Ronnie Brewer -- DWill's best friend on the team at the time. And not resigning Korver and Matthews. Korver was another of DWill's buddies and Matthews -- both DWill and Jerry were p'od about that (remember I reported on meeting Cliff Ray, one of Jerry's teammates with the Bulls who still talks regularly with Jerry, and who said Jerry was quite upset about letting Matthews go). I still question blowing up the team the way they did (they also got rid of Maynor for financial reasons). I believe the LHM never would've done that. But we'll see if in a couple / three years it pays benefits.

It would be easier to get some people to renounce their religion than it would be for you to get them to admit that Sloan quit. If coach goes back to coaching then how is that much different that Fisher getting out of his contract and then playing for the Lakers? Are the fans going to boo AK for the whole game when he returns? Highly doubt it. There seems to be a double standard with some Jazz fans.

Quite frankly, I am glad Sloan is gone. Like all great coaches there time passes them. Unfortunately, many times they don't know when it is time to leave. Sloan should have retired when S&M left. The last few years it looked as though Jerry was tired of the grind and was just mailing it in.

I wanted Jerry out too, but I agree it would've been better if he finished out the season and then left. If LHM had still been alive, I believe that's what he would've done. LHM would've refused to accept his resignation.

Yeah I do know what Sloan accomplished in his career. No championship. Can't be one of the greatest of all time if you can't figure out how to win it all when you have two of the greatest players who ever played the game.

Yep, 20+ years of work and dedication ruined by one press conference, 5+ years of not enforcing his own philosophy of defense (albeit flawed defense in underdefending the perimeter), an even longer time in veteran bias, thus overlooking and stunting the development of crucial rooks and role players who prevented the Jazz to maximize their potential in some years and possibly miss the chance at a title, and an unspecified amount of time in underanalyzing matchups, underadjusting to mid-game trends, and playing the same puzzling rotations, independent of what his own players (and the opposing players) were doing on any given night. Sad.
Fixed.
