Walker Kessler Hype & Appreciation Thread

TJ said Kessler told him he's gained 18 pounds over the offseason but it hasn't affected his mobility.

I assume Walker has known that he wouldn't be playing a lot of minutes on this team. It must be disappointing, but he's still the first teammate to jump to his feet on his teammates' good plays. I'm not hoping for injuries for the team, but...

Walter got almost the same min he got last year. Almost all data are down, Poiints, Rebound. %.... he seems to play better recently and hope he will keep the good job.
But i think at that stage, comparing him to current Rudy is not fair. Second year for many players is more difficult than first ( Expectations, opponent know you more).
Plus Rudy will probably be in the top 2 for DPOY, Currrently i see only Kahwi able to compete with him. I don't like clippers but if Defense was valued as much as offense, MVP of the season should be Kahwi at that stage. A fantastic 2 sides player.

You cannot look at his early season numbers as he played through an injury for like 10 games and posted awful advanced numbers. Since taking time off and coming back, he has been even better than he was last year (at least in terms of consistency).

I think his struggles and its negative impact on our early season defense pushed some of the others to play better at that end, and also opened starting spots for Tech and Dunn. That sort of formed the current starting 5 we have, and they are playing better and better.

I agree with you. My whole point was to say that Walter and Rudy cannot be compare. At that stage they not boxing in the same category :)

When Walker learns how to not to be a liability on offense he can be very good.

At some point other teams are going to start intentionally fouling him. The Jazz offense is becoming that good.

Last 15 games (probably more) Kessler is #2 in the NBA in net rating of guys getting minutes and enough games. He is also #1 defensive rating with an amazing 103.3, just slightly ahead of gobert.

Walker has been absolutely killing it around the rim. With all our weapons we don't even really need offense from him, especially when he almost completely shuts down the paint.

Ya that could become a problem but isn't as of now.
When you are number #2 in net rating and number #1 in defensive rating than that means you are doing great. The weaknesses do not matter at this point

I need to see more dawg. Without more dawg, I prefer the 5-out combos in most scenarios.

Walker is in the right place to develop. Glad he's on the team.
Theoretically most of his offensive issues including "the lack of dawg" might just be because he is scared of the stripe. He seems like a dawg in the defensive end, and isnt even afraid to get posterized.

I think he is just trying to maximize his output on offense, and knows that wont happen from the stripe.

I dont think that's the case.

He's on dog on D because he knows he's great at it.

He's timid on offense because he's hyper aware of his deficiencies and doesnt want to let the team down by failing.

Basically what both of you are saying is pretty much accurate. Almost same thing in different words.

Speaking of bad free throw shooting...... Basically airballed 2 free throws on one trip to the line lol. Barely grazed the rim on the first attempt and didn't even come close to the rim on the second one. I think I have seen pretty much every free throw attempt of Kessler's career and he never did this
