We have fantastic defensive presence. Herb Jones would make us lock down any team we play against. Kessler, Herb, and Dunn would be insane.

If we cannot improve on our turnovers against better defensive teams OR improve our scoring in general against better teams with an add like Kuzma, then I really like doubling down on the defensive end with Herb. I think a first and an expiring may just get this done because they are in a financial bind not being able to keep Trey Murphy AND Herb. They may not even be able to keep either.

Besides, he is signed for 3.5 more years at a reasonable contract. I think he brings more value than most of the guys we have discussed on this entire thread.

THT (expiring) plus a first and a reasonably protected swap would be a pretty solid offer for him.

Apparently the Hawks are looking for someone to take DLo’s contract from them in a deal with the Lakers for Dejounte. 2029 first and 2028 or 2030 pick swap is the rumored draft compensation. If that is all it would cost we should be offering KO + THT + picks to match.

Im starting to think we arent interested. Hardy knows DJM really well and if he wanted to reunite you would think that there would be some buzz.

To be fair, last year when we actually made the Westbrook trade there was little to no buzz around it before it happened. Us Jazz fans here posted about it daily because it just made too much sense. Hell, we posted it here before it even became an actual trade idea.

Olynyk for Dejounte works salary cap wise straight accross. Hawks save 6M this year plus almost 25M next year. Add in a first and a swap to complete it.

To be fair, last year when we actually made the Westbrook trade there was little to no buzz around it before it happened. Us Jazz fans here posted about it daily because it just made too much sense. Hell, we posted it here before it even became an actual trade idea.

I remember reading about the conversations between Jazz and the Lakers like a week before the trade, then it "died", but I guess Connely revived the topic by throwing the Wolves into the convo.

But yeah it was thrown around a lot earlier by you guys.

For those here who miss Mike...Not sure why Jones name is not being thrown around in the trade rumor. If people like Conley they will like Jones. An incredible 3pt shooter who never turns the ball over. He doesn't fit the timeline with the rebuilding Wizards but he does fit seamlessly with Lauri. He's basically a one year rental for Wizards and a late first should be enough to get it done.

No but like I mentioned earlier we don’t seem to have a lot of leaks on our trade negotiations.

It seems like there would at least be some buzz around one of the rumor mongers saying "i checked with Utah and they aren't really interested". This group isn't exactly tight lipped. I trust Hardy here and Murray might be a handful to deal with. Cuz like... if you are interested in Jrue why wouldn't you be interested in Murray (I know that one guy is theoretical but still).

If the price is as low as it seems... it is really hard not to swoop in here... and maybe that is the plan.

Not down payment theory I promise... but trades are hard. And some front offices struggle to work together. The fact that we have done a deal with the Hawks means we've figured it out before... so I would think the inroads there are wide open. Yet - we've heard nothing. Leads me to believe we are likely just not that interested for some reason.

Otherwise I think a JC to NY, Grimes and Fournier to Atlanta with a pick from us, and Murray to Utah seems like super doable given what the Lakers are offering.
