Potential Trade Targets

After Cavs lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs I think they need to do something about all the redundancy on their roster, assuming Don extends and of course that is still a big question. Their backcourt is probably too small but the much bigger issue is you cannot start 2 non-offensive centers. My bet is it wouldn't be shocking if they deal Mobley for a more established starter at a position of need. Mobley will also be due for an extension off his rookie contract.

Would you guys trade Lauri for Mobley? Mobley's development got stunted when they added Don. Not to mention Allen is the better fit with Don at this point. Mobley was considered untouchable when Ainge made the Don deal. He is already a first team all defensive type player but is very raw offensively. I do believe he has the skill set to one day be a hub offensively if developed properly. The Cavs are not in a great position to be developing him when Don is ready to win now and they have glaring holes at the forward position. Trading Lauri back to them could also effect our future draft picks but that didn't stop Ainge from making a big deal with Minnesota last year. For the Jazz, dealing Lauri for the younger Mobley could take some pressure off in terms of them potentially "tanking" for the '25 draft. Just a thought..
I just can't see the Cavs moving Mobley. They know there's a good chance Mitchell will leave them before the 2025 trade deadline and knew it already when they got him. If this happens, they will get good return and keep building around Garland and Mobley. Maybe they keep Allen as well although I wouldn't be surprised if they traded him as Mobley develops further into a solid center.

I think its truly 50/50 on if Donny extends. I don't think he has the stomach for a trade demand to one of the markets he wants to go to... and unless he limits his market I don't see the desirable markets having enough to make a decent trade. I thought he'd head to Brooklyn but I am not sure that looks like a great place to be even though its close to home. Miami has like two picks it can offer if the do some business with OKC. LA has 3 picks on draft night they can offer. NY likely doesn't want to pay the price.

If he stays I think Garland would be the natural trade piece.

How about a Kessler for Naz Reid-trade? This trade would really help the Timberwolves financially and we would get a different kind of center to pair with Markkanen and Hendricks in the front court.

Could be an interesting trade. Naz step up this year and is a much better offensive player Kessler will never be. But i doubt Minny trade him considering how good his contract is. I see them trading KAT after they failed to make a long run this year which may likely happen. KAT-Lauri may work but KAT contract is huge...

You may very well be right, but it will be so hard for the Timberwolves to trade KAT for a meager return. If they can`t find a team that is willing to give up something very good for them, I can`t see them being able to justify trading him. They have invested so much into KAT that trading him for not much would be admitting defeat.

Getting Kessler for Reid would make them able to keep their core for a few years. This might also be good for our future picks as I think we are about to see that this core is not going very far.

I dont know if Minny would ever do this, but it does make sense for them in some ways. I would do it in a heartbeat as I really like Naz.

Minny go through ownership battle and some of the owners clearly stated they don't want to go into luxury tax next year. Unless they make a final this year which is very unlikely ( their superstar is only 22...), they will trade players. KAT is probably the main piece but you're right. His contract make it difficult and i'm not sure, many teams are willing to pay so much for a star player but not superstar level. NAZ has a very friendly contract and play really well this year. Would be a plus for the jazz. IF DA go for it and extend Lauri, it should finally show we are starting a team able to win in 1 or 2 years. I hope it's happen. I'm not ready for years of mediocrity..
