Potential Trade Targets

If we did simultaneously trade Tech for a first and acquire Grimes... well we'd kind of have a replacement for the guy we moved. IDK. Grimes not as big. Tech is a big boy.

This is the thing I hate the most with the (re)building of any team - the lack of direction. And this comes after we got huge hauls for our two stars. We are not in a bad position by any means. But this uncertainty and lack of clear path forward bugs me to no end. They are just winging it and "rolling with thing". There is no strategy or clear intent. If a great offer comes for Lauri we will sell him off... if a mediocre starter becomes available we will pay for short-term slight bump with long-term assets... there doesn't seem to be a thought about the end destination and what we are actually trying to achieve here... besides "winning a trade" or two...

IMO shifts in strategy should be warranted if and only if it considerably changes your chances of achieving the ultimate goal(championship). What I feel like we are doing now is... waiting. We are waiting for the 25, 26, 27... drafts and hoping one of those teams has a horrible season and gives us a Tatum or a Brown who would raise our level to that of a contending team. The difference is Boston could actually attract some good free agents like Al Horford and Hayward... What's the chance we get a FA of that caliber? IMO this is what this team will be doing for the next few years... we will be in limbo... not good enough to contend, not bad enough to tank our way to premier talent. Lets hope CLE or MIN disintegrates by 25, 26...
I dont see how the Jazz lack direction.

They are keeping Lauri, so the direction is pretty clear to me. It's build around Lauri and acquire as many good players as possible without overpaying or chasing short-term results.

No surprise Boston is eyeing Olynyk, Fontecchio, and Dunn as rotation pieces for them. All experienced guys who play sound basketball and no iso-nonsense and could help them. We shouldn't give any of them to them. OK may get traded, but to a team that gives us more back.
Only way we give them to Boston is DA sell us out as they don't have any trade assets that we would even remotely consider

HH, what's with all the name dropping Andy Larsen snuggling going on? "My close personal friend..." Sounds like Hyacinth Bucket and the Buuu-ke residence stuff. You seem a little star struck or envious of his job. Then again, I am too. ;)

Also...

I was joking cuz he was on @Elizah Huge and my pod lol.

Tech is better but a little older. Would the Knicks do that? That's a fascinating move
No I was saying we trade Jc for Fournier and Grimes and then you move Tech for Walsh and the Celtics first. Grimes could serve as Tech's replacement.

The idea that we are stuck or dont have a direction is pretty silly to me.
The OP that started this was if we offload guys like Tech again this year. If you think we have a clear and obvious direction I'm not sure you are following the guys closest to the situation. TJ has said we could be a buyer or seller... Andy indicated the same thing. I think we are basically value based and seeing how it plays out for now. That's fine for a while... eventually if something doesn't shake loose it won't be cool anymore.

I def don't think its silly.
