2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Is Chomche a guy we could make a promise to that might stop him from working out with other teams or going to the ignite program? With either late pick? Or would his stock be higher than that if he actually declared?
I doubt being promised late round does much for him unless he loves the fit with the Jazz. If I had to guess, I think he goes to college. Ignite is kind of stinky right now and I dont think they even have an impressive roster for next year.

How much does a guy like him get in NIL? That obviously changes the equation slightly but yeah it might not be enough unless he really believes we can help him develop and he can maximize his earnings for the next couple years while getting closer to that second contract.

Im sure NIL money depends on the market in which you go to more than anything (at least for these guys who arent big time recruiting names). And I have no idea how much money that is.

He's just extremely young w/ no pro experience and without significant international competition experience (from what I can tell). To top it off, he's coming out of an unproven African Academy (think it's been around for 2 years). I think going pro right away would be a mistake. Obviously if someone is telling you lottery you should go, but late first means you can be out of the league in 3 years. Maybe that's where who is promising you matters more if the player's agent really likes a certain team's track record for development and patience so they can be more confident that they will get guaranteed all 4 years.

Of course he could go to college and be a complete bust and never really be mentioned in the breath of the first round again, like Baba Miller. So it's always a tough decision. I just cant imagine anyone wanting to go the Ignite route currently.

Yeah I think I’d consider it. If you are out of the league in 3 years but made 6M+ on the way out I’d be okay hoping I could work my way back into the league. And if he doesn’t suck he should be able to get second chances. If he sucks then making the 5-6M quickly would be big.

It was just a thought. If I was sold on him as a GM he’d be one I’d consider an offer. Could even be the second round pick and you could offer to guarantee all 4 years.

Would you trust a promise from DA? I wonder how Isiah Thomas would feel about that. Speaking of Isiah, I just saw he signed a 10 day contract with the Suns over the weekend. I must have missed that reporting on Jazz Fanz.

If he had two picks in the range I was hoping to get picked? Yeah. He'd have two chances to make good on it. If you promise a guy its cause you like him and don't want someone else to have him. I'd also make sure I had a well known agency backing me so it will hurt him if he backs out.

New Sam Vecenie mock draft just dropped and he said he tried to distill it with his NBA team intel vs what he would do.

1. Risacher
2. Sarr
3. Buzelis
4. Sheppard
5. Topic
6. Castle
7. Williams
8. Holland
9. Dillingham
10. Salaun
11. Clingan
12. Knecht
13. Collier
14. Walter
15. Filipowski

Thanks for posting.
Williams and Holland with a good pre-draft process should go higher, imo.
Buzelis as a top-3 guy would be giving him the benefit of multiple doubts. G-league isn't really NBA-caliber defense.
I guess Castle is really polarizing. I could see him go at the end of the lottery, but all it takes is one team to fall in love.
Filipowski's limited defensive presence in the paint likely holds him back, unfortunately.

The Jazz may regard Sensabaugh as someone who can play at the 3. Hence, the Jazz might be interested in Walter and Knecht as long-term prospects at the 2. (Both THT and Clarkson are likely to move on one way or another this summer.) I'm sure Jazz would like a long, 2-way wing with some ball skills, but the draft would need to fall favorably for that to be attainable. The one notable exception would be if the Jazz think Salaun can fit that bill.

At some point, I'll have to start acknowledging that Castle could be in play for the Jazz as well.

Top 4 is going to happen finally, just not in an ideal year

You want to play Keyonte, Knecht, and Brice in the same lineup? You really don't care about defense at all, do you?
