Dallas Mavericks @ Utah Jazz GAME THREAD (Airing on TNT, January 19th, 2012 - 8:30 pm Utah time)

Phil Johnson, on the radio postgame, exposed the same suboptimal thinking that plagued the Sloan regime for years. Johnson said that coaches tend to go with the starters. But if the starters aren't the best choice, you don't use them. In this case, harris was definitely not the best choice. Shoulda been Watson--or Tinsley, if EW is tired. Watson deserved the time simply for standing up for the team and being the spark. Dallas, on the other hand, used the fresh legs of Beaubois.

Experience > tired old "conventional" tradition.

Kanter has to learn how to finish around the rim. it's so frustrating to watch, especially after he works so hard for offensive boards or good position.

As a coach you hate to tell him to stop being aggressive on put backs, just hope he learns himself soon scoring over a double team isn't happening in the NBA.

Yeah, that's what Miller said. Miller doesn't realize we've been watching this same thing since the start of the season. I realize the kid is 19. I love his rebounding. But I'm getting worried. The guy can't make a shot from 2 feet. I've never seen a young big with this problem.

Yeah the start of the season. That 19 year olds first season. He is a smart kid that seems to learn. If he was an idiot or somehting I would be worried.

Harris had a huge steal and assist to cut the game to 2. At that time it seemed like a great move. It just didn't work out today. Harris has actually been our best 3 point shooter this year.

Favors could have made a difference in this game if he could get uncorked. The calls that were going against him were really cheap. He's the guy that keeps people from driving and preventing any need to double on Dirk.

He is getting doubled because it takes a full second to gather himself and another second to jump.

So.....Millsap didn't look like an All Star tonight. He struggled against Dirk's length, and Dirk could barely move or jump. Then he struggled against Lamar Odom's length, which reminded me of the past Lakers' series. I like Millsap, but I wonder how far the Jazz could go with him as a starting PF.

Oh.... and on an unrelated note, Jason Kidd was a complete decoy tonight. Did he even score? And yet we rotated double teams to him, which opened up Jason Terry and Roddy Beaubois.

But they defended Millsap like he is an allstar today, giving double teams and stuff
