Because not having 1-4 limits the upside of the pick. The Lakers could end up 5-10 and jump into the top-4 and we don’t get to keep it.

Feels like Salaun could be this years Bilal. Meteoric rise into the top-10.
But that upside is there for any team who acquires that 1-4 outcome. Again, it doesn’t matter who it goes to you’re they’re buying the same thing.
The Jazz can package it more convincly in another trade if they get all the outcomes. The value goes up. But another team would not like the pick whole heartedly if there is a 24% chance it is not there. Or conversely a team may not want the 1-4 spots if there is a 76% chance that the Jazz get it. It gets all risky and weird but I suppose the Lakers can do some crazy unusual moves.

I can imagine the discussions. Yes we will trade you Gianniss for the top 4 position of the 2027 pick. If we are really bad in the lottery you have a 26% chance. If we are barely in the lottery you have 3% chance. But more likely we are in the playoffs and you have a 0% chance at it.
While it "could" be done with another team. It would be on the level of NBA alt-coin crypto. But again picking Bronny with a second rounder kinds of matches that thinking too. So yeah..maybe.
There is an obvious reason. Not sure why you’re being so weird about this. It solidifies the asset not only for us but as a trade asset going forward.
It’s really not any different than a protected pick the other way IMO. Like I said, the Jazz traded for a pick with a certain chance they don’t get it. I wouldn’t call it NBA crypto, I would just call it a protected pic.
You’re paying for a certain set of outcomes. When you buy/sell a certain outcome, it does not really matter who owns the other outcomes.

My prediction for Bronny is, if he doesn't go first round he'll ask his agent to inform all teams that he is not available to draft in the 2nd round. This way, he can dictate where to go after the draft, probably the Lakers. Undrafted players have done this in the past, and it worked out for them.
