And that is why I never want the Jazz to even think about trading for Luka

Luka Doncic is a player of substantive qualities, a worthy opponent of thy Jazz. Were he to defect from the Dallas Horses to thy Jazz, he would bring sublime “passing” and throwing abilities. His basketball intellect is noteworthy, I rank him as a genius along the lines of Machiavelli and Hobbes.

Funny how often "selfish" was mentioned by the OP.

Luka averaged 10 assists per game this season. (To go along with his 34 points and 9 rebounds)

3rd most assists per game in the entire NBA.

Assist have nearly nothing to do with being selfish/not selfish. You can be extremely selfish and get a ton of assist.

You do have to pass the ball to get an assist though. It definitely has something to do with being selfish/unselfish

AST Ratio is better. Luka has the second highest AST Ratio of all players with a >30% usg. He's 7th highest for the top 50 usg% players.

Not to me. If you are only passing expecting to get an assist you're still selfish. You need to move the ball around to not be selfish. Dribbling the **** out of the ball and you either try to score or only pass to an open player with the expectation they will immediately try to score is selfish play. I think Doncic is a very good player but extremely selfish and his antics are annoying to watch. I'm sure I would be happy to have him if it happened though. He's a very Harden type player.

And there's nothing wrong with being selfish if that's the way the team is built, but it has its downsides

Ya you can actually look up total number of passes as well and find Luka looking pretty good.

Luka has high usage. Number 1 in the league.
Others with really high usage are SGA, Gianni's, ant, etc. Luka passes the ball more than those guys.

Also, do you think the Mavs would be a better team if Luka decreased his usage? My bet is that Jason Kidd and all of Luka teammates want him to have extremely high usage. I bet that they like winning games.
It would be selfish of Luka to lower his usage to make fans like him more only to result in hurting his teams chances of winning.

Edit: Embiid had the highest usage in the league.

You can selfishly get assist.
Certainly. Luka also passes the ball a lot without getting assists. Look up the players who pass the ball the most (not assists)

Luka has the highest usage in the league. But what he does with that high usage is more unselfish and successful than most all the other top 10 high usage players in the league.

Edit: Joel Embiid had the highest usage in the NBA this season.
