is marrying.

Just think it'd be better if they didn't choose the strong public stand option, perhaps. . . . . and decided to give themselves a break.

He could have done better.

It could take her forty years to realize she ought to just get a name change to overcome her parents' overpublicization of her disappearance, and focus on something other than the ugliest aspects of human derangements. The young man, I'm afraid, will give his life to living in the shadow of her personal tragedy. Doesn't sound like a healthy life to me where she lives in the public eye with constant reminders, such as the "foundation" she has started with dad's money and others' which is in effect a shrine to her abuse.

Of course, does that mean she should never marry? The abuse she endured means she is not allowed to have even a semblance of a normal life, because she wants to keep the memory alive?
 
I noticed a lot of foreign papers(at least online) picked up the news too as I was scanning a few this morning, and they weren't just generic AP/Reuters pickups either. I didn't realize her story was that far reaching. Does she live in London now or something?

Not at all. There is no "allowed" to it, just my irrelevant opinion about somebody else's life. Just as irrelevant as anybody else's opinion. I didn't like beantown's opinion about the man, sorry I said anything about Liz. She deserves every consideration and personal choice freedom and coping and going forward can provide.

I'm guessing that this dude was someone she met from her mission.... Serving in France, I'm assuming she served with a lot of Euros.... If not on her mission, then at BYU....

I'm not sure if she could have done better. Folks, have you not realized that even without her kidnapping experience, this girl was a bit odd in the first place? I mean, how many 14 year olds played the harp?

Congrats to her. And I hope this dude treats her well...
 
Considering the horrendous back story, she does seem very well adjusted. That's a lot of baggage, though, so hopefully that guy is emotionally strong.

Good luck to them, I say.

I ran outta posrep. I'll have to wait a while to catch up here. I think the young man deserves a lot of respect, and that was the primary notion that got me started on this. I'm about to delete my critical comments about Liz. I wish Liz and her fiance the very best. . . . . even if they want to stand strong in the public eye.

I stopped caring about the Smart case/story after they found her alive and arrested her kidnappers. Good for the family and good for her. It's a pity though that other missing people don't get the kind of attention that she is either currently getting or for that matter has gotten since being rescued. I still hold her in high esteem for setting that dumb ***** Nancy Grace straight on her show.
 
I never did understand why we give money to those prairie people. All they do is leave their **** out in their yards, take our money and spend it on booze. Quite possibly the most worthless people in America right now.
