What's new

I'm bored = two trade ideas that won't happen

Here's a gutsy trade that likely will never happen. I think this would actually help the Jazz overall, but I doubt Golden State would bite.
I'd be willing to trade CJ, who is very recently coming into his own as a SG, for Golden State's SF Dorell Wright, who also is having a very good year. Not only would we gain a young legit NBA SF, we could then move Hayward back to SG where he clearly is way more comfortable playing.

Are we assuming Butler is good because he is from Marquette and has a good story?
We are assuming Butler will be at least AS good as Josh Howard in 5 years (Howard will be out of the league, and certainly not on the Jazz) and could be pretty good since he's, you know, a rookie.

Has Butler done anything in the NBA? I haven't seen him play yet. He would have to really impress me in order to give up Howard. How about CJ for Butler and a second round pick?

If he's really impressing, he won't be available. He's a rookie SF with a good body and a better brain.

This Josh Howard acquisition will be nothing besides throwing $3 million away unless they make a lot of noise in the playoffs or trade him for something else to develop. Hell, even if they make a lot of noise in the playoffs, how much of that has to do with him, and how could that make the Jazz (without him, because he will not be on the team after this year) better in the longterm?

I just don't think stacking the team with rookies is a good idea. I tend to think veteran "leadership" gets blown out of proportion, but you don't want your whole team to be 1st and 2nd year players.
