Lauri re-signs for 5 years 238 million

Actually its a norm that states all athletes are eligible for 45-95 days of training leave/commandments depending on their level. Lauri was certainly eligible for the maximum.

He spent end of April, all of May and most of June in service thus fulfilling almost all of his 70 day minimum in regular service.
So how many days in total do you have to do as a Finnish citizen?

Also is it just male or female as well?

165 days is standard sport school service. Other service lines are of varying length, from 165 to 360. Most lines over 270 days long are for officers snd many of them can also provide benefits useful after the military.

Only men are mandated, but women are accepted as volunteers.

There is also civillian service which essentially means standard office work and doesnt include firearm trainings etc.

There are specific service lines for military musicians, cooks, drivers (allowing you to get "free" military heavy vehicle drivers license that can be converted to regular one pretty easily), and other lines that have career benefits.

Also they pay all conscripts 6-13€ per service day as well as covering their appartment rental/loan costs for the duration.

So Lauri needs to do 165 days.. how many did he do last year?

Let’s say 2 months.. 60 days.

He should in theory have to do another 100 days, no?

No. The 45-95 training command days reduce the 165 total.

Lauri is done and it went by the rules. He served 70 days total regular training on site and rest of them by playing/training with the national team (+ last 2 weeks training for the NBA season).

So a typical Fin has to do 360 days of military service.

Lauri gets 165 is for being a sports person.

Then reduced further by 100 for training with the national team.

In total he only does 60 days?

Wow, that’s Privilege with a capital P.

I wont bite for your trolling so dont bother. Acting butthurt from 20 000 km away when the actual Finns here are fine with it just makes you look ignorant.

A real boy would know better.

Assuming keeping Lauri long-term is in the plans for the future, who are the realistic “big-game” type targets that the Jazz might chase next offseason to pair up with him?

In the past few seasons, the Jazz have been strongly linked to possible trades or signings of Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holliday, Mikal Bridges, PG13, Dejounte Murray and now Brandon Ingram. Have to think DA is looking at the new salary cap rules and figuring out how to exploit this when the right opportunity comes available.

Most of us really are fine with it because we understand how top level sports work, and we love following sports. What's much more bothersome for us, is that mandatory service in military or civil servant period is only for males assigned in birth.

Yeah that’s another thing, why can’t woman do other things like admin tasks relating to military or medical training for if war does eventuate?

Who we target will depend on how we do this season and who we draft. Many unknowns still, will we land Cooper or a wing or are we positioned for Bailey or Traore. Does Keyonte take a significant leap. What we do know is its likely Ingram, Kuminga, Trae and Zavine will be available to us next offseason. I think whats most important is that we have to HIT on one of our young guys on their rookie deal.
