What's new

Mailman on 1280 The Zone :))

Malone has always been full of charisma. However, he says whatever he wants, so if you think he's speaking the truth about all of this, you might want to reconsider. Having said that, he was a warrior and did so much for this franchise and city. Cyrone's mock dialogue was hilarious and does not seem that far fetched, but if the Jazz could figure out somehow to bring Malone on board to train our young bigs, it would be awesome. Mainly because of the attitude toward the team and competing. Kanter could learn the most from him but so could Favors. If these guys could get a bit of Malone's competitive fire and emulate his effort and swagger, they could be incredible together. The Jazz should send Favors and Kanter to train with Malone over the summer for starters.

[Did they call you to work with him?]
No. You can’t beat the fart out of a dead mule, they haven’t called they ain’t gonna call.

This is a huge failure on the record of our management. You have your best player in history begging to come in and work with your new prize, and you don't even call him.
WTF? Karl would be perfect for Kanter. Karl has talked several times about wanting to come in and help. He's just waiting for a call.

Yup.

You have a HOFer who worked his *** off and never went ring chasing, yet you can't give him even a token position on the staff as a big man coach? I have plenty of reasons to dislike the Miller Enterprise, but this one is a huge WTF to me. This is how they are repaying loyalty--It's a one way street to the employer.

First of all, I have always been a big fan of Karl. I thought it was shameful how some Jazz fans treated him when he was here and when he left to play for the Lakers. I have always appreciated how he isn't afraid to voice his opinion but probably the biggest reason why Malone isn't coaching with the Jazz is because he needs to spout off all the time. The Jazz are a very conservative and secret organization, will Karl around he would overshadow everyone else.

I do think it is a good idea to ask Kanter and Favors to spend some time with Karl during the summer. I do not think Karl needs permission to workout with NBA players. If he did why not call the Jazz and offer your services or ask if he could talk to the young guys. Maybe the Jazz don't want to marginalize Sanders not that he is part of the staff.

While Karl is entertaining, he is speculating on what went down with DW and he is bias because he loves Jerry Sloan. I am not saying that DW and Sloan didn't argue but he has no evidence of DW calling the GM.

Last i check dwill didnt knock up a 13 year old girl while in college(guess thats common for mormons though) and then refuse to see the child or wanna take care of child. Dwill is 5 times a betetr person then malone and it aint close. This is like Jerry Sandunsky calling Peyton Manning a bad person
Hey, when did Karl get baptized into the LDS Church? I know Thurl Bailey did but I didn't realize Karl was a card-carrying Mormon. Please inform Tom Monson so he can update the LDS church records.

I've brought up the issues of Demetrius Bell, the Ford twins and the inappropriate remarks to Kobe's wife (or should I say soon-to-be-ex-wife) several times on this board. I deplore Karl's conduct as a human being. But his conduct as a Jazz player, as a loyalist to Sloan and the Jazz organization is remarkable - and commendable. I remember the attitude and actions of the Jazz organization back when Karl went to the Lakers. It was mentioned several times in the years leading up to that moment that many expected Stockton, Malone and Sloan to retire together. When Stockton announced his retirement and Karl didn't also follow suit, I think the Jazz were caught off-guard. Similar to when Boozer said he was going to opt out - and get his raise regardless - and then didn't. KOC had already put the wheels in motion...as another poster mentioned, he was pursuing a couple of top-tier FA's, including Malone's replacement (KOC hoping for Brand). Karl was effectively shoved out the door by the Jazz not offerong him a contract. So yes, he has a right to be bitter. Surprisingly, though, he remains loyal to the idea of the Jazz organization.

He speaks his mind - as hard as it is to understand sometimes. And for that reason, he'll never be invited to coach. You have to toe the company line as a coach and Karl can't/won't do that. But I have a feeling he and Jerry talk. There weren't many teammates still left from the Malone era (AK and Harpring the only ones, I believe), but I'm sure he had other sources that told him EXACTLY what went on. If not from Sloan himself, maybe the trainer, maybe Johnson.

Love Karl Malone. I wish I could see KOCs face when he hears this.
When asked about Karl's remarks, KOC first said "no comment."

Pressed further by reporters, O'Connor added, "we will always continue to explore every avenue to make the team better."
