What's new

Mailman on 1280 The Zone :))

First, off....does he have ANY proof to his D Will theory? It's clear that he has a bias against KOC and his D Will story brings out that bias.
Ofcourse, all of that might have happened...but how did he get in the locker room and all?

And I'm glad he's not coaching Kanter....he was one of the great players but he's got too much non sense to him and Kanter needs no part of that.

What'd he say about Favors???

Yup.

You have a HOFer who worked his *** off and never went ring chasing, yet you can't give him even a token position on the staff as a big man coach? I have plenty of reasons to dislike the Miller Enterprise, but this one is a huge WTF to me. This is how they are repaying loyalty--It's a one way street to the employer.

This is absurd. He was a great player, so they have to hire him as a coach despite the fact that he wouldn't make a good one and there's no room for him?

The problem with hiring Karl as a coach is that we'll need to add a translator to the payroll.

I doubt they can find someone who is fluent in "Malone"

That said! The man is worth listening too. All of you folks who feel he is making things up as part of a vendetta or from injured pride or just from malice, well, a lot of people
never did "get" Karl Malone. Too easy to ridicule because of the way he speaks. If you can't see the honesty in what he says, if you dismiss his loyalty to the team, if you are
judging him on a few mistakes he made in life (everyone makes them, even you, even me). At just about any point in Karl's career he could of left Utah and went big city and made even more money
in the process. His reputation would of been greater, and revered much more widely. Yet, he did not. I once heard him say in a radio interview about 4-5 years into his career that he
did not care about nor want more money than the Jazz were giving him. Because if he couldn't take care of his family, their children and their children's children on that much money then he
would be a fool and no amount of money would change that. That folks, is truth and wisdom. Karl (and John) were the best things that ever happened to this franchise, or ever will happen.
His total respect for John and what John did for him is evident anytime John's name comes up.

Anyone find anything to criticize about the things he said about our young players? My wish is each and every one of them has the chance to hear what he said. They could only benefit.

By the way. perhaps he did this radio show for two reasons. One appears to be as a way of getting attention and hence donations for a family with a gravely ill young boy. Pure Karl. Another reason was,
i think, that he really had a lot of fun doing this. Also, pure Karl! Thanks Karl, for everything!

Wouldn't you love to see Kanter and Favors working out with Karl? Seems to me that's exactly what they need. More toughness, hitting the weightroom, and being
pushed by the best PF of all time.

He said that Favors has great talent but needs to get in shape. I think what he meant by "getting in shape" is Sloan shape. I remember Jerry complaining about players' offseason work when preseason workouts would start.

He went on to say that bigmen who run the floor well are nightmares for opponent defenses, and particularly for opponent bigmen. That might be an advice for our young guys.

I would be totally down with Karl running an offseason program. He can't be an in-season coach because of his Newt like propensity to pronounce absurdities. It would become a distraction.

Re-playing the interview now on 1280 for those who missed it. I didn't hear the first 2 1/2 hours so i'm appreciative that they doing this.

The best part of this thread is how vslice writes out the transcript in the exact dialect that Malone says it in.

And BluesRocker is nowhere to be found. Probably too busy sucking Deron Williams ****. What Malone says is pretty obvious, and Jazz fans need to side with him.

I'm shocked at how simple this proposition is, yet how few teams seem to get it. If you have a tall, athletic player run the floor, it's either a foul or a dunk. This is why I love it when Gordon runs the floor like he did tonight. He's 6'8 and fast breaks are inevitably defended by the other team's backcourt because they are the ones to get back first. I can't think of too many guards in the NBA who can stop a 6'8 athletic player from dunking in the open court.

That's what made Karl such an exciting player when he was in his early-to-mid-20s. A guy who was 6'9, 250 pounds and just about all muscle, running full speed at you is a terrifying sight. Hell, if we could send LeBron back in time, he couldn't stop that Karl Malone on the break.

Now, Favors is athletic, he's fairly quick, and he's an inch taller that Karl with the same weight. He needs to run like an antelope when the opportunity presents itself. Since he mostly plays with Kanter, who can secure rebounds, he shouldn't worry too much about rebounding and he ought to just run. Is Jimmer Fredette going to stand in his way on the break?

Because players who are tall are usually players who are also heavy (not fat, but they weigh a lot). It's generally not easy for them to run the floor the entire game.
