I might get around to it, might not. I don't really care and it doesn't really matter. Plus I'm listening to a great book right now and I'm divulging all my viewing and listening time to it. (My first audiobook experience ever. I have been reading books basically every day of my life but my wife wanted me to listen to one so she gifted me one on audible and I'm pretty into it)

One criticism that the KSL radio host and you shared is that she talked too much about trump.

I don't fault her for that. We have multiple wars happening, we had a pandemic, we had a sitting president drop out of a campaign race due to dementia, we had back to back devastating hurricanes. All of that and everything else falls under the shadow of trump.

Look at the general discussion threads here. And anywhere else for that matter. All those huge events get little attention or discussion in comparison to trump. Harris did, and is doing, what the country is doing. Focusing on trump. He is the car crash that no one can look away from.

I can't wait for the day that the country moves on from trump. A loss in this election would expedite that process and the country as a whole, trump haters and trumpers (and everyone in between), would all be better off afterwards.

I do think the cultural climate described in the article I posted above(comment #2647) would point to a big Harris victory. But a close win by Harris might be overturned by team Trump, as Neal Katyal described yesterday. I think we are going to need a solid victory by Trump, since Trump will without any doubt whatsoever, try to steal this election if he loses. I’m not even sure Trump has a cutoff point for electoral college votes where he would decide “not worth trying”. I doubt there is such a cutoff number. He’ll challenge a Harris landslide. But, as Katyal describes, a close loss by Trump could, and likely will, lead to a constitutional crisis.

You are now talking about 2 different things. This is a college that switched to a state college, not elementary or middle schools that are remove age inappropriate books.

Yeah, if it was me, I would have sold or donated the books. But even then, just like when I went through college, some of the books that were required for my classes they stopped using after the year so I couldn’t sell them back and had to dump it.

On the thing about trump talking about the enemy within and using the military on Americans: when Bret showed the clip of trump being asked about him saying that and trump doing a quick denial and then quickly changing the subject, I wish Kamala would have been like "so?, trump always denies the things he has said and done. That's his MO. If you think showing a clip of trump denying he said something that he has said in the past is proof that he never originally said the thing then you are easily manipulated by his lies"
Or something to that effect.

There is a new movie out right now called the apprentice. In the movie it shows how way back in like the 70's a lawyer named Cohn took trump under his wing and taught that you never admit to anything. Deny deny deny. Never admit defeat. Claim you won even when you lost. Always become the victim. Paint the accuser as a cheater.

In this clip he is asked about when he did call Americans the enemy within. When he said the left is a bigger threat than China or Russia. When he said that he would use the military to stop them. (Of course the person interviewing trump didn't put all that in the question as the interviewer lobbed him a softball instead).
trumps response? I have never threatened anyone (denial with a nice dose of hyperbole). They are the ones threatening me. I have been investigated more than Al Capone. (Become the victim with a huge dose of hyperbole)

trumps lips were moving when he answered that question.

Former President Donald Trump doubled down Tuesday on his remarks over the weekend referring to Democrats as the “enemy from within.”

During a taped town hall of all-women voters in Cumming, Georgia, with Fox News’ Harris Faulkner, the host asked Trump about his “enemy from within” comment, which he made during the network’s “Sunday Morning Futures” this past weekend.

During that interview, Trump told host Maria Bartiromo that California Rep. Adam Schiff and other Democrats were “lunatics” and a bigger threat to the U.S. than foreign adversaries like Russia or China.

“I always say, we have two enemies,” Trump said, adding: “We have the outside enemy, and then we have the enemy from within, and the enemy from within, in my opinion, is more dangerous than China, Russia and all these countries.”

He also suggested that the military could be called in to handle any unrest on Election Day from "radical left lunatics."

Trump doubled down on those comments during his Tuesday night town hall, also calling Democrats “evil” and “dangerous.”

“They’re Marxists and communists and fascists, and they’re sick,” Trump added. “We have China, we have Russia, we have all these countries. If you have a smart president, they can all be handled. The more difficult are, you know, the Pelosis, these people, they’re so sick and they’re so evil,” Trump said.

But this is the biggest tell right here. Conservatives still will find ways to attack and criticize her in ways that they wouldn’t dare with Trump. Some may refrain from the cult like worship of Trump but by damn they won’t ever be seen giving her any credit. They still want Trump to win but want to play this game where they don’t want to be seen with dirty hands. Meaning they want a Trump presidency without being labeled a trumper. So they’ll play this lil game of pretending like these debates or interviews matter (and pretend to be open minded) all while ignoring the huge elephant in the room.

I’m curious, where was Buck’s criticism of this? This is a nonsensical answer:

Where are our good conservative friends with this? I don’t think using laws from the 1700s, the same one used to round up and imprison Japanese Americans during WWII, should be used to imprison Trump’s political foes. Have any of our good posters expressed concern over this?

I know I know, Mr. Jimmy Clean hands is wanting to criticize VP Harris’s answer on paper straws for gay penguins. But somehow, it seems more relevant what Trump has done recently. Has Mr. Jimmy Clean hands criticized Donald for his recent actions of:

* Lying about black Haitian immigrants eating white peoples’ pets? Or has he defended Trump on this/ignored it to cherry pick something about the VP?
* Has he called out Donald’s lying about FEMA? I know if the leader of my tribe was putting lives at risk due to lying about a hurricane, I’d be more than upset.
* Has he criticized Trump for once again calling fellow Americans “the enemy within?”
* Has he shown any concern over Trump siding with Jan 6 Insurrectionists? Trump even called them, “we.” Meaning politicians running for their lives, cops, and the majority of Americans as “they.”

It’ll be interesting to see how Mr. Jimmy Clean hands spins this. I love how he has time to hop on and criticize Harris’s Fox News interview but he never has time to ever ever ever raise any concern over Trump’s far worse rhetoric and misdeeds. But of course, he wants to be respected here. How dare anyone call him MAGA.

Tariffs do push (some) production back towards the home country. Yes that cost is bore by the US consumer, but the reward also is (to a lesser degree). We'd pay more to ourselves.

Profit hoarding at the top is a separate issue.

A little more on this:

Trump is happy to suggest he’s ahead — proclaiming he can’t lose unless Democrats cheat.
For Trump, the notion that he’s losing at anything is an affront to the image he has cultivated over decades. Success, or at least the appearance of it, is seared into his self-identity. He publicizes his victories in golf tournaments at his club in West Palm Beach, Florida, and celebrates his TV ratings, and in the political sphere, he still insists without evidence that he was the rightful winner of the 2020 election.
Voters may appreciate an underdog, but for Trump to portray himself as such would posit that he’s losing to an opponent he has described as mentally impaired. That’s not something he can easily abide.

Its who trump is. Bluster, being a victim, projection, exaggeration, lies. He is piece of **** douchebag of a human

Except, all major economists in the country say that Trump’s tariffs would be inflationary and result in a recession. Which is interesting. The same people who want Trump tariffs are also The same people that have bitched nonstop over the last four years about a growing economy. For me and my family? I want the economy to keep growing, my 401k and stocks to keep hitting record levels, and for me to be able to purchase cheap foreign made goods. Biden’s economy has been amazing for me (and for the majority of this country).

Sure, it would be cool to buy an American made iPhone. But I’m certainly not willing to pay 10x the price for it. Cheap imported goods is good for the consumer. Protectionist policies aren’t.

One would think that this is yet again more irresponsible rhetoric from the Donald. He’s already conditioning his base to distrust the election results (unless he wins). This comes after his last election loss, where cops were killed by his supporters, our capitol building was ransacked, and members of his own party (his own VP) were running for their lives. But of course, you hear nothing but crickets from those on the right when Trump uses his mega platform to sow distrust and hate.

I wonder if that’s why Trump gets more attention on here than Harris’s answer about teen headphone use? Anyone else wonder if Trump’s mental state, hateful rhetoric, or promises to pardon Jan 6 insurrections might be a bigger deal than anything Harris says?
