Kanter on wearing down Aldridge: I'm just trying to do my job. Coach Ty just said just go out there and fight and just [get] every rebound, touch every rebound, go guard him. And I'm just trying to do my job and do what coach tells me to do.

Learning how to play tough and use his body: It's just natural. That was my game even when I was little.

Using defense to set up transition points: When I get the rebound, I'm passing the ball. When they score, I'm just [happy]. Derrick [Favors} did a great job, Paul [Millsap] did a great job and Jeremy [Evans] did a great job. It feels great.

Understanding how he can make a difference on the court: I'm still trying to figure out my game. Everything is going to be so much better.

Earl Watson on the importance of the win: This is an amazing week for us. Playing Portland, Portland's a tough team. And they're a team, they're going to come out, they're going to fight you. They're going to grind it out. They're going to play aggressive. They feel like they're the toughest team in the NBA and that's like their edge, it's their angle. A lot of times they say, teams like that, you match their energy. I'm the opposite: make them match our energy and just keep pushing and pushing and pushing. And we got the W.

What changed during second half: We realized what we're playing for. We're playing for the playoffs. This is not just another game. This is not a preseason game. This is not another game. We all know in this league, after January the season fly by. So this game was monumental, it was epic, it was big for us to get some space.

C.J. Miles on the Jazz outhustling and outfighting opponents: We're tough. I think people look at a young team and don't expect us to be that way. I don't believe in that youth thing. I believe we have the talent, so we should be able to win games. Being young has nothing to do with the way we work. We come in and we play hard and we can beat anybody.

Gosh, I love Earl Watson...
THAT is the attitude I want

We've seen a small sample of what Kanter's able to do. I think another year and he'll be comfortable and pleasing fans like a 3rd pick. Good kid.

Kanter+Favors look like a solid defensive frontcourt. Offense comes and goes but you got guys that can D up like those two you can win some games.

Kanter is 19. He's a rook. He's showing the potential. I like what I see.

Jazzfanz has been screaming for a defensive center. There aren't many of them that even exist. We have one now.

Yes. We do. Glad we have favors and kanter. They are good. Also. Thanks for posting. Please format the question and quotes differently. Maybe bold the question. Ok? Have a good night. Bye.

or what? You'll eat your lunch in my office?

Or you'll just revert to your normal self and say stuff like this:

Thread:I'm Back: Toronto...

Eat dick **** face.

I have no fears Kanter is going to do everything in his power to become a star for us. A star in the league, well that's tougher, and we'll just have to see...

I'll settle for a difference maker on the boards and a defensive presence. If he can hit the 15 foot jumper and clean up garbage around the hoop that is just a bonus.

Do you mean Favors? I love Kanter's man defense, but his help defense is far from being what most wanted out of a defensive center on this board. Favors fits that bill though.

Kanters jumpers WILL fall, but like PKM said I'd bank on it being more next season......which may also coincide with when he'll have the green light and confidence to take them. When he has that in his arsenal and overall confidence from Ty and his teammates, let alone himself on the offensive end, this kid is going to be special. Very much a player every team needs.

One of them needs to develop a decent 10-15 ft shot. Then surround those two with wings and a PG who can shoot. Right now, if you had Favors, Kanter, Hayward, Bell and Harris in the game, opposing teams would laugh. You'd have to hope you could hold them to 10 points each quarter because not one of those Jazz players can hit an outside shot right now.

Just look at Orlando. Howard is a great defensive center, but no one around him is contributing.

I believe he'll add that jumper somewhere down the line. Seeing him shoot them in practice makes me believe it comes a lot more naturally than it does to Favors.

Favors has been hitting some of those shots and should improve considerably on those over the next few years. Kanter will be fine with them, he looked good shooting them the other night, just short. Would not be at all surprised to see him make his next one. He is progressing well: remember how he got blocked several times right under the hoop the first few games? That is not happening as much so he has already adjusted that.

Is it too soon to think about playing Jefferson more at PF, and giving Kanter and Favors more minutes sharing the center position?

C kanter 20 / favors 20 / jeffs 10
PF jeffs 20 / mills 30
SF Hayw 20 / how 15 / CJ 15
SG bell 15 / burks 20 / hayhowcj 15
PG harr 25 wats 20

You can't take PF minutes away from Millsap.

All summer I thought with more guard skills Sap would be playing well at the 3 but really it's just made him a really tough matchup at 4.

with this compact shedule, there have already been a number games of Millsap or Jefferson played too many minutes to be at their best.
