Pete Hegseth

The Thriller

Anyone else find this type of mentality alarming for someone who craves being the Sec of Defense? This comes from his book. Isn’t this a bit extreme? Or is this just fine and normal for you right wingers? What does “utter annihilation” mean? And “guns… yet?” What message is he trying to convey?

You just don’t see this type of rhetoric for Democratic cabinet secretaries. And this is without taking into consideration Hegseth’s extensive history of sexual abuse, defending war criminals, and demands that women leave the military. I know for some of you, this will be the only place you hear this news about Hegseth. Fox News and dudebro podcasts sure aren’t going to tell you the truth about him. So before you mindlessly post defending your tribe mate, pause and think for a few minutes. Is this really someone I am going to defend?

The clearest through line of all three books is the application of Hegseth’s wartime mentality to his struggle against domestic opponents. American Crusade calls for the “categorical defeat of the Left,” with the goal of “utter annihilation,” without which “America cannot, and will not, survive.” Are the Crusades just a metaphor? Sort of, but not really: “Our American Crusade is not about literal swords, and our fight is not with guns. Yet.”

Fine and exceptional. Pete Hegseth is built to make our military as lethal to our enemies as it can be. That is the job of the Secretary of Defense. When and how those tools will be used is up to the Commander in Chief, but if a job needs to be done, it is in our best interest to have the greatest set of tool we can have with all in perfect working order and every one in its place so you don't need to search for it. I don't much care if he wouldn't be my first choice to cater my kid's birthday party. That is not the job he's being hired to do.

And remember the left is the enemy within, so the military is being equipped to destroy "our" enemies, meaning of course, Donald Trump's enemies. Both real and imagined. So Russia, North Korea, and Hungary are completely safe. And any Democrat that ever said anything mean about Trump better run for their ****ing lives.

Pete Hegseth absolutely crushed. Even the CNN Senior Political Commentator admitted how effective Hegseth was in the hearing.

The forgotten economically anxious definitely not racist or sexist man needs a teevee secretary DOD infamous for raping women, getting *** drunk, and defending war criminals. It’s the only way to make America great agaib.

Would you say Hegseth's military background gives him what it takes, or are there specific things you'd want to see from him in that role?

What I want from Hegseth is the ability to adapt quickly and weed out those who cannot adapt quickly. The battlefield in Ukraine looks nothing like the wars of Iraq or Afghanistan. The command structure in place before Hegseth got there demonstrated a lack of adaptability. The posterchild for their backwards looking fixation is the M10 Booker.

This is what I want to see changed. The M10 Booker is far from the only example. The program that is now called the XM30 was started in 2003 as the FCS (Future Combat System). It was renamed to the GCV in 2009 (Ground Combat Vehicle) in 2009. In 2017 it became the NGCV (Next Generation Combat Vehicle) and in 2020 became the XM30 MICV. It is delay after delay after delay.

If there are no more delays, which is a ridiculous assumption given the past 20 years, they'll have a vehicle ready to go by 2029. That is four years from now. As stated earlier, the battlefield of today is radically different from the battlefield of four years ago. With the pace that war is evolving, we cannot have 20-30 year development cycles. Our weapons makers have to innovate faster and our procurement has to move faster. We are capable of it. In WWII we had aircraft mostly inferior to everyone, and four years later we had jets. It is not a coincidence that rate of evolution happened alongside the US Military purging a significant portion of its leadership.

What I want is for the American military to not get left behind. I want those who have pushed forward the M10 Booker and delayed, delayed, delayed the XM30 to be replaced by go-getters who can move faster.
