2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

I think one of Clarkson or Sexton has like a 40-50% chance at getting moved. Collins I think is more like 20-30% chance. I think Eubanks maybe the most likely to get moved as the salary and role match and we might settle on a second or two depending on what the returning salary is.

Cam Johnson likely the biggest mover and I think Sac/SA should be in on that. If the Lakers decide to be aggressive I think we may make a deal but I think they are shopping on a budget.
The Cam Johnson price is going to be extremely high.

Maybe. It should be high and they may not do it... but they are winning even with Schroeder and Thomas out. They can move DFS and have some other levers but it will get late fast on them with the "lead" they have. I think the Warriors could have gotten it done with Kuminga and a pick (maybe a swap too). But you may be right and maybe it was a couple picks and Kuminga.

Jazz are projected to have between 8 and 10 players on rookie contracts next year.

This is not really tenable so it made me think about if the Jazz would trade any of their 7 guys on rookie contracts right now, but I couldn't come up with any possible trades.

This is just way too many guys though. Especially when Cody Williams and Taylor Hendricks will essentially still be rookies next year because they've played so few NBA minutes.

In a spot where I think they have to trade away the Wolves and Cavs picks if they're in the 20s even if they get very little value in return.

Some consolidation can and should be done. Hopefully to move up the draft. I think there are a few older players you could use the Cavs pick on if you are stuck and get someone more ready made but yeah... may need to make some decisions on a couple guys if not.

Hendricks is going to be on the shelf for a while. Maybe he starts playing in the 2nd half of next season.

If history is any guide, the Jazz don't give a long leash to guys who can't shoot. The Jazz could decide to move on from Cody Williams as early as the middle or end of next season unless there's marked improvement. This coming summer is going to be huge for his career.

Collier is probably seen as a backup who can be traded if anyone wants him. His shooting is rock-bottom too right now.

I think the Jazz probably like Brice and Flip as future bench guys.

Alright... quick trade idea. Since we don't think Sexton is worth a good first (well I do but market value not so much)... Sexton/Eubanks and the Cavs 2025 first for Dlo/Vando, remove protections on 2027 and give a 2029 (maybe top 4 protected).

Saves them like 30M this year... they get off of Vando's deal which is awful and he hasn't played. He is owed 3/37M after this year. If they want to sub in Vincent because they like Vando I will gladly accept that.

I remember getting tons of **** here for suggesting Vando wasn't worth much of anything and that the Lakers deal was the height of insanity. Oh how the turn tables.

Why is it not tenable? The Jazz had 8 players on rookie contracts in 2013-14 and 8 again in 2014-15. That's what rebuilding teams do.

Yeah I guess so. It seems more like a trade you make at the deadline if you can't find anything better? I'd obviously rather take Vincent's contract over Vando's extra year if possible, but I'm guessing Lakers could make another trade with the Vincent contract while Vando is a boat anchor at this point.

With that said Sexton is currently the only guy on the entire roster that can turn the corner and get past his man to the basket. He's also a really good shooter and should be in his prime the remainder of his 1.5 year deal. The DLo/Key backcourt overlaps and would be a mess defensively but we are already at that point anyway. At least DLo is only signed thru the end of this season. Obviously the prize would be the Laker '29 FRP which would have more value than the Cavs '25.
