2024-2025 Tank Race

I'm sure any other team with a bunch of young up and comers would love him- a near-championship team looking to upgrade their coach, no, probably not and he can't prove himself to those teams with this squad. But he already is the head coach of an NBA team that historically has been more than fair to their staff- all that matters is that as the composition of the team changes he continues to be up to the challenges of the day. If so, he'll be golden.
I understand. But the question here was about a "risky" career move. In my experience, if I'm talking about where someone's career is at, then I'm concerned with more than just how their present employers see and value them. I'm sure Hardy is looking forward to the end of tanking (and part of that is self-interest).

Lmao, teams love Hardy. No one puts the Jazz being bad on him outside of the trolls on here.

Nevertheless, he's a losing coach. Hasn't proven he can win in the long run (due to the tank). That matters when there's a head coaching vacancy to fill and the team is looking at various guys.

To Ainge, Hardy is probably just a sacrificial lamb. He's not supposed to be the long term HC.

This is where I really disagree. The dude will be given every opportunity to grow with the team and he's shown out fine so far. He has a great relationship with the players even during a time when it is obviously difficult to get everyone's competing agendas to collectively align. and the offense has been great relative to its component parts.

He has a couple years to get the D up to snuff and I think he will- he is a smart guy and will find the balance.

I mean, we're probably throwing games for another two years after this and we're probably doing it by Hardy intentionally playing terrible defensive schemes again.

If we strike out on a top 4 pick this year and next year we may tank a third year I suppose. Even then we might find some gold in the 5-7 range. I suspect the tank ends after the 2026 draft if not sooner.

Want to see what we do at the deadline... it will be an indicator.

The pick the Jazz owe OKC is only top-8 protected in '26. Bet on the Jazz tanking in '26 hard, like bottom-4 record hard, same as this year.

I’d be shocked if the tank lasted beyond next season- top 5 pick this year, top 10 next, trade for a youngish vet with our assets, then start climbing the standings after that.
