Collin is likely worth a first... Lauri at his downgrade worth 2.5 good firsts. IDK like 5 firsts if you melt it all down. Could be worse. I always thought those deals should really be looked at as one but whatevs.

If we end up trading Lauri and Collin, we also the bled the value that they contributed to winning over the past two seasons. Their contributions over the past 2.5+ years has been strictly negative when it comes to draft compensation....so you have to factor that in as well. The only logical reason for keeping Lauri and Sexton around was in case something else happened like an almost guy. Almost guy is still almost guy, so we definitely bled value for attempting to go that route and failing to execute on any of those plans. We likely dodged a bullet by failing those plans, however.

I think the initial package was fine, management of those assets after the fact may leave a lot to be desired. I think the Jazz did well to turn those 3 CLE picks into 1 PHX pick, but keeping Lauri+Sexton all three years while you're tanking and driving down their value is a tough pill to swallow. The only payoff we'll get is trading them for subpar value.

Everyone's forgetting that Sexton wouldn't be allowed to play a role like his current Jazz one on any team trying to win. We're trying to lose, so it's OK to let him go buck wild, play 30mpg and give up 3 points for every 2 he scores. That would not happen in Sacramento so you can't equate the contracts like that.

Collin is literally in an ideal situation in Utah... for him. Only other tanking teams would offer him this type of freedom and minutes.

Dude, quite literally give us a break with this ****. Sexton is on a tanking minutes restriction. He is a very good, legitimate NBA player that wound up on an obviously tanking team. I’m sorry you’re so ****ing bored, maybe there are other things you could be doing than spamming about this.

I would 1000% rather have Sexton for what he is paid and what it would take to trade for him than I would Fox.

Not a perfect 1:1, but I think Fox's trade value will be a decent reference point for a potential Lauri trade. I would assume that any team trading for Fox will sign him to a long term max/close to it. Lauri is probably a bit lower than Fox in terms of trade value, but we can use that as a reference point.

BTW, this convo we're having about Sexton vs Fox on their contract. This would apply to something like Cam Johnson against Lauri. I'm sure we'll be consistent on this idea when it looks bad for us, right?

Fox's trade value is weird just because it's so easy to go to the Spurs in two years because Wemby makes very little money for the next 2.5 years.

Most players do not have plausible FA threats (see: Jimmy Butler) so teams can still trade them to wherever. The teams players usually want to go to are usually contenders that have tons of money tied up that would make clearing out cap space hard. The Spurs will have the cap room for Fox so his trade value is gone.

LOL, I think the Fanspo's Trade Machine is cracking under the traffic. Apparently the Jazz don't own any 2025 picks and San Antonio doesn't own Minnesota's 2031 pick (BTW: WOW, what ****ing gamble).

Lauri's value has gone up and down, but if we're looking at what we have right now we should take into account what we have right now. After that, we also have to consider that we paid a cost to have him arrive at this value. We didn't pay nothing to have him on roster, he was the biggest contributor to anti-tank and that was the only point of the only seasons we've had him. In other word's, we can say Lauri has X amount of pick value but it has come at the cost of whatever you feel his damage to tanking is.

I don't know if you want to wrap that up in what you consider the trade return, but it definitely contributes to the situation we're in. Oh I have been annoyed for a couple years with DA's value based trading on some of the smaller deals. The biggest mistake of this whole rebuild was not cutting hard enough after teh Don/Rudy deals and that was because he wanted the home runs. Overall I am happy with the front office... they are far from perfect but a good chunk of it was understandable.

I do have a feeling they will try to keep enough stuff together to do the quick bounce unless they get real offers on guys.
