What's new

Dallas trading Luka to the Lakers for Anthony Davis! Utah involved.

Its the most insane trade I can think of, frankly the Lakers have robbed Dallas and i think every NBA fan hates the idea the the Lakers have just not only got better better gained a generational talent for nothing.

Its ****ing sickening, the devil always ***** in a heap. **** THE LAKERS!!!

I wonder if not the Lakers lacking a defensive center try to trade us for Kessler... Don't think they have enough resources left though

The Jazz are moot.

The deal gets done whether we are involved or not.

We just pick up some free assets.
Even at that, if they ever knew It was about facilitating getting Luka to the Lakers, I wonder what was the reasoning to do for a couple of seconds and taking a younger player that by It's NBA trajectory is a salary dump, not someone we should expect a second contract.

"If we break this to the world, It's problably either Luka with Shai and Chet/J-Dub or Luka and Wemby, and we can't let that happen" ?

I feel theres more to this story. Maybe mavs told him to lose weight or else and luka said *** off im your franchise player. Traded him immediately.

If that would be the case then you would leak "Luka might be available" and get the best offer, right?

Either there is some political agenda here or they said "AD+Kyrie > Luka+Kyrie" and actually targeted AD which sounds dumb (why not target someone like Giannis then and try to get him first?).

Actually scratch the latter part. New York Times reporting that Mavs did contact one other team about this earlier. Most GMs had no idea, but someone did. So they may have targeted Giannis first.

I don't see any way this isn't stupid from Dallas. Take a couple days and shop him. At the very least you get more from Lakers if AD is your target. So many teams would have thrown everything for him.

Is Pelinka now gonna push for Kessler? Makes a lot of sense, seeing they just lost their defensive backbone and dont really need an offensively productive center no more.

Also its sort of baffling how much money this trade will cost Luka.

He is no longer supermax eligible since he has been traded after his rookie contract AND he moves from zero tax state to the highest(?) tax state in the US (I read somewhere they got 13.3% state tax?).

I kind of get a his trade for the Mavs, but how do you not get all first round picks from the Lakers?

Actually think the Mavs could come out looking like geniuses. They could win a ring. They make a move for Sexton as a bench scorer with that Lakers pick? Hypothetically they are built to be a foil to the Thunder with their front line of Gafford/AD/Washington. They got picks to make a move for another scorer. Not sure what salary they have to match. Could they get Butler/LaVine?

The Lakers on the other hand.....

I think this kind of sucks for them. They are worse this year. Yeah, they have Luka, but absolutely nothing else. The West is too good. Maybe they figure out how to get a UFA there to pair with Luka(probably will) but if they miscalculate on who that player is, they are ****ed.

The Celtics/Mavs series was kind of eye opening Luka is never going to win a ring if he isn't committed to being in elite shape because of how bad he is on defense. If he's really getting fat af then that is reason to trade him. And I get wanting to go with a win now piece for the team you built, but damn, get all the picks so you hamstring any ability they have to build around Luka.

If he has issues staying focused and not partying in Dallas, LA is going to be a struggle

In terms of win now top 10 player they got the best player possibly available.

Feel like the Lakers have to trade LeBron for whatever future assets package you can get. They should lose a lot of games now. Atalanta should be happy. They might get a lottery pick from this trade.
