I reiterate that it is hard to be a bottom-3 team because one win streak can mean you’re out of the running. This is why I think tanking again next year is gonna be really hard and the Jazz are basically gonna have to axe all the vets which is a major task unto itself (especially if Lauri is gonna keep being ***/hurt; I think the best-case scenario is having him recoup his value next year for a mid-season trade).

That basically did happen last year. The Jazz won a ton of games in January. January is a weird month because your good teams are in a pre all star lull, your bad can sometimes get frisky, and haven't been decimated by trading away their good players yet.

I think the opposite is true. I think they might actually make an in-season trade. I don’t know what Sexton’s health status is, but he is a worthy target for them.
-they are built to win now and have had some success with it
-they are in the East, wherein tanking at this stage of the season would be actively difficult
-they don’t have a tradition of *tanking*, do they?

We will see. Im just disgusted with their FO in general. If I was a Magic fan I would be furious with how they are wasting time with Suggs/Banchero/Wagner.

It would be incredibly easy for them to tank at this point. They cant beat anyone because they cant score. Put Banchero on ice and they will pretty safely be in the bottom 10.

Per our convo yesterday, I think the Hawks will finish above them in the standings.

We probably want the Wizards to lose out. Hornets are about to do some incredible tanking. Might not win 3 more games all season. Wizards are so far ahead in the tank race they can try to win games vs other ****** teams with no repercussions

Me too but honestly I think both teams beat us in the tank race.

It's a fluid situation all year but right now about the only team I really worry about is the pelicans. Need Zion and CJ to play as much as possible (come back soon Ingram!).

I'm currently not worried and the raptors, Spurs, blazers, or sixers. I'm a little worried about the nets.

I'm thinking that we end up 4th behind the wiz, hornets, and pelicans. But only if we go back to sitting healthy guys. Lately it seems like we have been playing everyone and that is worrisome.

Btw, I missed most of the game last night. How bad is the sexton injury? Any update on the injury or timeline? That injury could be really helpful.
