Why would we pay him more than other teams? Like, literally what is the reason why?

Why would a tanking team with horrible defense with a million small guards want to add a near end of his prime 6'1" gunner guard who is a bottom 10 defender in the league?

There's teams that can hide Sexton on defense and use his scoring and the Jazz are not even close to one of those teams.

Yes, they both don't like him as a core piece but also want to get lots of value out of him and that's very odd.

Why dont they like him as a core piece? Or how do you know that?

Pretty sure Tony Jones just wrote an article saying they liked Sexton and valued him for the future.

Because teams for some reason pay their own players much more in extensions than they would get as free agents.

Intersting that this year Ainge didnt really try to force and move the needle. Last two seasons its clear he gutted some parts of the roster and not all of them were "great value moves".... but this time he didnt do that.

I`m not sure it would have to be that big. If we offered him the same deal he is on now, I doubt anyone would match or top that in free agency.
