He reminds of Jacquez….good and bad parts.
Just in terms of physical comp, he reminds me of OG Anunoby at Indiana, though I haven't watched him that much.
He's got this weird post/interior game that allows him to get a lot of buckets inside the paint and draw a ton of fouls. He's both crafty and explosive with decent touch. I'm shocked at how much better he's gotten. Did not look like he could play offense at Kentucky but made a huge leap this year.
I think he will struggle to fit in like Jaquez/Kuminga are right now, but maybe in the right situation + development he can be a nice two way player. Yes, I realize that comparing him to two guys who couldn't make the playoff rotation is not glowing praise, but at 21 I like drafting a great athlete with some talent.
How good can he be defensively? Can he be a stopper on the perimeter? Honestly, he looks like a lottery pick in these highlights.

You need to go work for the Athletic
Powell is the guy that I was most hoping would start putting together enough productive games to be considered in the lottery. He just never really got going offensively. I have no doubt he will be a great defender, and when you put it all together in that highlight video there is enough to be excited about.
I don't know if this is a thing or not, but I think Powell is a guy that a team could consider, "drafting a year early." What I mean by that is a guy who looks the part, but didn't have the production to justify getting drafted, but would be likely to develop in to a high level prospect at some point. I don't know. Maybe that's like obvious and happens all the time or maybe that's not really a thing, not sure.
Do we think Powell will for sure stay in the draft? I'm putting him with the list of guys who are currently projected in the second round and so they will likely return to school.
Another pitch for Wolf: I think it’s really important to have some unique players that can break defenses because they’re unique/weird. If he’s there and doesn’t pan out at 21, that’s fine. I understand the concerning shooting indicators (mostly FT% at his age, though he shot 35% from 3 shooting a bunch off the dribble), I would also point out that he’s in the ~88th percentile in converting in isolation last year and ran something like 130 PnRs… as a big. Being that tall combined with his handing/juice and his passing ability could have cheat code implications. He competes on defense which you can work with if you have a good scheme and secondary rim protectors (Hendricks; Flagg, VJ, and Bailey all look like they have this). His combination of attributes are a complete outlier and I think that’s a great bet to take at 21.
uhhh... I watched enough UNC games to disagree. I don't think his production was poor because of lack of opportunities.I think Powell is a 1st-round guy. I think UNC just didn't feature him. Ian Jackson is transferring out too. I'm trying to remember the last freshman at UNC that really shined. There's probably a reason that UNC isn't getting the top recruits anymore.
Locks kept saying that Clifford is 21, Tankathon has him at 23. That would be older than Key.Forgot to poast Locke’s advanced numeros love nique clifford
I read every article.Has anyone actually read a Givony article on 2025? I seriously doubt most here have given his content is all paywalled.
I also went back and tried to look at DX archive, can't seem to find any of the old content before 2017. Not sure if that's an issue with my phone or the website.
To my memory the only prospect breakdowns Givony would do were international. The videos and analysis were done by other members, namely Schmidtz.
Givony has always given his opinion, and still does. Any big board is ultimately a critical analysis. I seriously doubt he is ranking players higher or lower due to access.
I read every article.
He's 23, don't listen to Locke for draft analysis.Locks kept saying that Clifford is 21, Thanksgiving has him at 23. That would be older than Key.
