LOL

Everything on TV, and in the mass media in general, is dumbed down as humanly possible. Unfortunately, it's almost necessary considering how stupid most people are. When it comes to politics it's even worse - on both sides. So the two embarrassingly simple catch phrases 'spend it now' and 'spend it not' aren't surprising to say the least.

Cyrone, I'd be willing to bet if you polled everyone set of eyes in Michigan that saw that commercial at least 50% would see nothing wrong with it - and actually agree with it. Thanks for sharing though. I needed a good laugh.

“Your economy get very weak. Ours get very good [sic],” the actress says, in broken English.
“Thank you Michigan Senator Debbie ‘Spend-it-now’. Debbie spend so much American money [sic],” the actress says, without a Chinese accent. “You borrow more and more, from us… we take your jobs. Thank you Debbie ‘Spend-it-now.’”
The Hoekstra campaign called the advertisement “satirical” and explained the broken English in the video as a reflection of China’s increasingly competitive education system.
“You have a Chinese girl speaking English - I want to hit on the education system, essentially. The fact that a Chinese girl is speaking English is a testament to how they can compete with us, when an American boy of the same age speaking Mandarin is absolutely insane, or unthinkable right now,” Hoekstra spokesperson Paul Ciaramitaro told POLITICO

I think more important than the actual ad is how stupid the Hoekstra spokesperson thinks we are. Really? So this ad was really targeting China's awesome education system?

Gee, silly me! And here I thought it was a racist ad that was attempting to smear the Demo you're running against to make it look like she's the cause of so many jobs being created in China. As we're suffering in the states, the Chinese are increasing.

Silly me!

I mean, I'm not a PC person by any means but this video is just offensive to my intelligence as a human being. I would just think a politician running for a spot in office would have more common sense than this.

Seriously? Maybe if he were running for President. Maybe. I've seen some piss poor political ads over the last 10 years (since I started paying some attention). But like my personal hero George Carlin says, 'garbage in, garbage out'...

That's funny. Isn't Michigan one of the states that most takes welfare and food stamps?

Along with all the other southern (repub) states?

What's the old saying? If you can't do, teach?

Well, I guess the adjustment would be, "If you can't do, well, smear somebody else and accuse them of doing exactly what you're doing."

Gotta love conservative states living off welfare accuse other states of doing the same. It reminds me of how Utah is constantly bashing the federal government but is always the first state to accept handouts. When was the last time Utah gave up more than it took in?

Funny funny funny...

People are stupid.

Did you see the Mike Lee ads?

Who took Bob Bennett's spot again?

Oh...

I heard that pete spend it not promised that if he were elected, he'd employ everyone in car factories, take the Detroit Lions to the Super Bowl, and put a base on the moon.

By damn, he's got my vote!

She also pee pee in your Coke.

LMAO.. I forgot to add in my first post the broken english was the icing on the cake for me. I'd love to meet the person's who job it was to 'okay' that specific ad.

Meanwhile, the director at the commercial shoot...

"Cut! Let's do that scene again. This time speak in broken english. I don't think the viewer will know you're Chinese based on your physical features alone unless you do so."

First of all, if that video offended you, well, you're a moron. Secondly, look at all of you clamoring about it, bitching, whining, etc.
I'd love to meet the person's who job it was to 'okay' that specific ad.
So would I. I'd hire him to shoot my next campaign spot. If Pete isn't giving this guy a raise, then he's an idiot.

Ridiculous exposure nationwide for the price of one single commercial > Same old, same old

Besides the racial overtones, the premise is just inane beyond belief. Corporations/the private sector are the ones outsourcing jobs, not government. If anything, the government has been forced into letting people's quality of life diminish greatly or do something (spend) to try and salvage a ravaged economy and try to create labor jobs.

Whether it's right or wrong, the U.S. government borrowing from China has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the private sector fisting the american people for profit margins.

Stuff like this is the reason I started paying attention to sports. I need to be desperately distracted from reality.

Government creates an environment via taxes and regulation which causes businesses to outsource jobs.
