Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I just don't think there's any high level archetype that explains why Hardy favors one player or another. If there's one player who has a long leash, there's probably another player who plays just like him who can't get off the bench. The real reasons are probably behind the scenes that we can't see. It also changes quickly and all the time. Ochai, Walker, and Key have all been the golden boy and the on the **** list at different times.

If I'm being honest, I think Hardy did a pretty good job at distributing playing time for development even if some decisions felt weird or unexplainable at the time. I think all our guys got enough playing time, and that's what you should expect from a tanking season. The only decision that really made me uneasy was just how much he loved Key. We don't call him Lisan al Ghaib for no reason. But I think Hardy has corrected that (or ran out of patience) and I'm more comfortable with Key's current standing.

I do wondering if we're focusing too much on the KD, bucket getting aspect of Ace. Some people love it and some hate it, but are we overlooking the other parts of his game? I feel like with Cody (skinny) and Collier (shooting) there was so much focus on the main thing, and the main thing was important, but the rest of their games probably should have been given more attention. Here's what I think about the stuff beyond the KD/buckets for life aspect of Ace:

- He does have great physical tools, some make a big stink about him being 6'9 and I really think this is where we should actually say "don't overthink it". He's a great vertical athlete, great measurables for a wing, and maybe a tad stiff
- His shooting is still a question for me. I believe he will be better than the indicators and will be able to shoot it, but what does that mean? He seems to be compared to elite shooters all time time, but I'm not willing to just assume that's the case. He could be elite, but he could also be like a Miles Bridges level shooter.
- Defensive potential is good. I think people who say he's already great are jumping the gun. He has great moments, but is a work in progress. Can be good if he wants to be good. Rebs+stocks are decent, but not off the charts.
- His motor is generally pretty good on both ends, needs to become more consistent but I'd say it's a plus.
- General BBIQ and Feel (buckets for life can be considered part of this) is a big question mark for me. Don't think he has a natural knack for making the right plays, being in the right places, etc. Think high IQ and decision making skills is more important than ever on both ends.

@Elizah Huge is having a convo with Andy Larsens right now that is pretty interesting... some changes to the scouting group... sounds like they were split on Cody... and those guys may have been bounced. Kinda interesting.

So if the Jazz didn't take Cody, who were they looking at? Buzelis? It sounded as though Knecht was in play.

Yes Buzelis.

I think what we all missed with Cody was the mental aspect. Only people who psycho tested him would have known how nonchalant and timid he was. All we see are his physical attributes.

I remember seeing how ecstatic Buzelis was when he was drafted. He was excited and ready to go to work.

That’s the types of guys i want now.
