What's new

My son is…

I gotta get my 7 year old to do this. He’s pretty quick.

Yeah regarding Kinkkkkkk’s comments, I haven’t done that in a couple years. Her time wouldn’t be anything special. She has decent speed and better endurance when she’s in shape.

My son is a solid athlete (800 yards on 40 carries in flag football and 17 touchdowns two years ago haha)…I’ll probably bribe him to get him out there this summer. If you hit this time, $20…etc.

I raced a boy in 3rd grade last year who I think is the fastest kid in the school. His name is Javon. I beat him pretty easily.
I still got it lol. Though the next day I had plantar fasciitis for the next 6 months so maybe I didn't really win after all.

Brutal. Aging blows. I absolutely hate it. Decent likelihood I pull a Hemingway in 25 years.

Oh she’s still really young..

I had asked your son why he didn’t follow after his father and be a Jazz fan. He told me that currently there’s a team out there that doesn’t exist yet, and that they’re going to win a championship before the Jazz will. It was a gut punch.
Your son is right.
Jazz will never win a championship. I've been good with it for quite some time now.
And ff they do, they'd probably be the Las Vegas Pop Sinners or the Seattle Ecologists or something like that.

So has he picked a sport?

You should get him on something early, and go hard like Brunson’s dad.

I would pick a white man’s sport like soccer.

Picked a sport? Haha no. He plays a ton. Probably too much. But he says he wants to—he likes the social aspect of them a ton I think.

In the fall, he does travel soccer and travel baseball. I think I’m not gonna have my wife sign him up for Sunday night lax and flag football…both are on Sundays plus a flag practice during the week. Idk. Both feel pointless. He also does a wrestling school (run by a runner up national champ ncaa guy) once a week.

In the winter, he does travel soccer, travel baseball, wrestling and rec basketball.

In the spring, it’s both travel sports plus lax.

I’d love for him to play football at some point. But concussions are real, and he’s had two serious ones a couple years ago from indoor soccer, and he’s smarter than he is athletic so at the end of the day, it just doesn’t make sense. All my friends who played collegiately said they’d have him wait til at least 5th or 6th grade…so he’ll just continue playing a **** ton of sports and we’ll see where it goes. He’s having fun and pretty damn good at all these (maybe not basketball his shot is broken haha) so I’m not worried about it.

Concussions are scary.

I totally agree that playing several sports at that age is better than trying to build a prodigy. 10,000/1 people that do that just end up with a resentful kid. If your son finds a serious passion for a sport then support them. Easy math.
