Broken record commentary.

DID THE JAZZ WANT HIM TO BE GOOD LAST YEAR? NO. COULD THAT POSSIBLY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH HIS POOR SEASON?

The Wizards also didn't want Kuzma to be good the last two years.

His value went from "two firsts" to "negative value contracts" despite being on tanking teams as teams could tell that he had declined significantly as a player regardless of the tanking. This evaluation ended up being correct as well.

Lauri could not jump last year and looked really terrible due to not being able to jump.

Lauri was asked to try out iso scoring to see if he could improve and he improved not at all and his passing looked as bad as ever, showing that he absolutely hit his ceiling in 2023-2024 and has no more potential left in him, that also lowers his value.

He's also older and has had even more injuries, lowering his value.

I cannot vouch for hoop-explorer.com enough. They have so much unique/hard to get stats for free. They have:

- RAPM
- On/Off everything
- wowy everything
- Shot Charts
- Play types (passing and scoring)

Interface is a little clunky, but it’s a free site with the most info.

Wrong, Lauri will have two years on his deal left when Wemby's max starts.

Anyway, again, the issue is that Lauri just wasn't good last year.
And his deal will only account for 26%-27% of the cap in those last two years. That makes a huge differenec compared to having someone like Brown who makes closer to the full max of 35%.

Uh, oh, now I'm not going to get any work done.

I calculated the on/off difference for offensive and defensive ratings for some of the top prospects. I ended up using positive differences as good for both offense and defense, so it's a little confusing.

This ends up being a bigger indictment of the teams that these guys played on. They also have an adjusted +/- that adjusts for strength of schedule, but I stuck with just the raw numbers.

Here are the adjusted for SOS numbers. This makes a huge difference for a few of the prospects, specifically Tre Johnson. I don't remember Tre missing any games, so it is confusing to me why his strength of schedule was so different on/off the court?

From Tony Jones

1. Jazz have mostly only worked out second round prospects so far, planning to work out guys around 21 next, and then finally guys in contention for 5.
2. Jazz are going to try to win games but they don't know which direction to take. Whether to add veterans to the roster to try to compete for the play-in or trade away all their veterans and be organically bad. Won't rest guys as much this year regardless.
3. Jazz have talked to at least one fellow lottery team about trading the #5 pick, but this section is very vague. Unclear if it means trading up, trading down, or trading out or how serious these talks are.
