Jazz Pushing For Jaylen Brown

Stevens is trying to pull off a masterpiece. Trade Brown for ridiculous value, gap year 26/27, bet on some SAS/DAL trust fund luck, then go into summer 27 with Tatum, young talent from Brown, future assets from Brown, and cap space.

A Fountain of Youth year.

Shams was on ESPN and said the Celtics would prefer to keep both Brown and White and it would take an offer that absolutely blows them away to think about moving either one. Jake Fischer also said he doesn't think Boston will move them.
i'd rather have white and it would take less to get him.

Key's put up some nice stats. Here's where I fell off the Key train: First the pouting and the apparent unwillingness to play D at times last season. Also in his rookie season when he hurst his foot and was out a few games, the Jazz suddenly started to look like world beaters when Kris Dunn took his place in the lineup. I realize Key would just be a senior in college this fall so there is time to get his mind right. For her article Sarah had to have had some intel from the Jazz FO. I doubt this is a stream of conciousness piece
Every Sarah Todd article is a stream of consciousness piece. . .

I’m just going to play devils advocate here since nobody else will.

Which star player are we allowed to trade for? 5-7 guys who will never become available?

How many more years of taking are we going to endure? What if we don’t land a top-3 pick again next year? Even being the worst team next year again it’s a 50/50 coin flip at top-4 or 5. We know all too well because of what happened this year.

The same people saying not to do this would have told Indiana not to trade for Siakam.

Now they aren’t exact perfect comps because I think the price for Siakam ended up being lower than what he’s worth due to a couple of different things.

Jaylen Brown is the exact type of guy we should be going after. I will say it’s a year too early though. We need to just be patient for one more year.

Boston is significantly weaker a year older and without Brown. He won't be easy to replace and certainly not with a first or second year player or Simmons.

The target isn't the issue the timing is. If Giannis or another top 10 player becomes available then eff the timing... we ball. JB is like top 20-25ish. We just ain't ready.

Appreciate you playing devils advocate. Right now is literally the worst timing, and Brown is one of the worst guys to go for. We can do this type of trade as soon as next season and for pretty much any other star who is not Jaylen Brown. He's a borderline all star (in the east) on a supermax who does not have a game that would age well.

It's not similar to Siakam-IND at all. The Jazz are nowhere close to being as good as IND was, Brown is going to cost a ton more to trade for than Siakam, and he's paid way more than Brown.

The biggest thing it’s it’s too early but I do have to say if it was just 5 as the main draft capital (likely wouldn’t be just that) then it would make it more enticing because we’d have plenty of other firsts to use to upgrade the roster.

I agree with everything except your feelings on him. I think he’s someone who could take a mini leap as the #1 guy.

We will find out if I’m right on that one way or the other.

The opportunity won't wait for us to be ready to take it. Jaylen Brown is only available now because Tatum went down and the Celtics are in cap trouble. The opportunity won't be there in a year. The only question is, are we willing to take the plunge now and do we believe Jaylen Brown has another level to his game.

Maybe, he'll get his chance next year in BOS or elsewhere to prove it. I don't really think he's much better if at all than the Siakam/Ingram/Trae/Sabonis/Lauri level of player that is seemingly always available or in trade rumors. And I don't think you're getting Brown for 3 bad firsts like you could with Siakam.
