According to Sarah Todd on Bluesky it's actually his son, Omar Cooper Jr.
I'm sure there was a thorough vetting process and he just happened to be the best man for the job.

This is Sharife Cooper's twin brother. He averaged 1.7 PPG at McNeese State last year as a senior.

I guess it's okay to bend over backwards to make your rookie feel comfortable. Just be sure you don't bend over the other way.
