What's new

Game Thread Jul 08, 2025 07:00pm: Thunder Vs Jazz (Summer League)

Added to Calendar: 07-08-25

How did Cody look last night? His box score looks good.
The good news is that people have to defend his with their bodies now rather than just blowing air at him.

Seriously, though, he looks long, he is more decisive , and he has the beginnings if a handle. His point of attack defense is actually really good unless he is hard screened.

He is still a year away at least from being any type of real rotation piece. But there us hope he can now get there.

Good, glad to see the studs are resting tonight. We basically played an NBA team last night - caught up and whooped em. This OKC baby corps contingent looks more like mediocre G League. Hoping to see Tonje, Luis, Miguel, Crowl and Springer tonight. (Martin must be a lock I assume as he’s not on the roster).

Martin is a lock to be waived

Brice shouldn't play anymore. He's shown enough. Clearly a heavy rotational guy at minimum. Probably a starter.

I'm sure Ace will be a heavy focus in Vegas. Not to say we'll "run the offense through him" - he's not that type - but we'll run more stuff for him.
He has not shown enough. He has shown he can really shoot the ball. He should start trying to do other things.

The only thing Brice does well is shooting. He's very poor at handling and defense.

Look, Summer League is next to worthless for development. The primary purpose of Summer League is to entertain the fans. I don't need to "rest the vets" for summer league. You signed on, see it all the way through. I don't need to see any of the Jazz Summer League players I haven't already seen put into the game for even one minute. I get resting a player because the schedule is pretty brutal, but we should play ball with everyone good available and screw the Frankie Ferraris of the world.

In fact, we need to be checking the Summer League waiver wire for centers. . .

Can't imagine it's "worthless" otherwise why even have it? At minimum it's a good glimpse of who you have coming into camp + a chance for rookies to dip their toes into the NBA game.

Don't see how it's doing anything for a 3rd-year guy like Sensabaugh, though.

Other than being a bulldog defensively, I'm not sure what else we can realistically ask him to do.

He's not a playmaker, doesn't have great length, isn't a vertical athlete, doesn't get to the line in real games, etc. SL isn't going to help him just morph physically.

IMO he's a deadeye off-ball shooter and serviceable defender until we draft over him.

He can start with making basic reads more quickly and making the simple pass
