I love to hear that, hopefully his brother is gassing him up hard (super cool he's been out in Vegas watching all his games). Jalen was a no-star recruit and three year player at a mid major, obviously they are not the same person but I hope it gives Cody confidence that the player he was his first year doesn't have to define his career.

It sucks that in life that effort isn't everything, but for someone with Cody's height and wingspan it is a huge part
 
After watching Cody his 2nd year in the summer league, he always seemed passive in the way he carried himself. He has the impression of having one foot in the door of taking the game seriously, and the other is not for timid and unmotivated reason. I've never seen him get angry and serious like how Filipowski gets. But I think he's still getting there bit by bit. I'll only start worrying after his three year, if it doesn't improve.
 
Lets not be crazy now but for all the Cody hate, it is nice to see some love.

People on this board are all too much about the NOW and dont understand that players develop with opportunity.

I booed when we drafted Cody and not Buzelis. I really wanted Holland to slide. But Cody is on the team for at least 2 more years and I cant cheer against him. I am hoping for development coaches to start cooking.

Who isn’t. We all hope he develops, I just don’t see it, but I’d be more than happy to eat crow. I love crow and its chicken-y goodness.

My comment isnt so much about whether people hope or not. It is more about the sentiment many project that players are what they are now and will never be much more. This is especially true when we are negative. It reverses when we have high hopes for a player.

I think we underestimate development and overhype ceilings for talented players. I for one expect a much better sophomore season from Cody based on where he was last summer league to now. Good development is fun to cheer for.

Yes but he’s being called the worst player from his class not just by jazzfanz. There’s countless YouTube videos from various content providers that have the same opinion. He wasn’t just bad last year he was horrifically bad last year
 
I was really stoked about Cody after last year's Vegas SL so I know these showings can be fools gold but I have been impressed with this year's Cody.
