Player Options

After reading Sarah Todd's article on our young player options do the Jazz decline any of them? I say the team picks them all up but there may be some contrarians out there. What do you think?

Are you talking about the team options the Jazz have on their first round picks? If so, it would be madness to give up on any of them already. I could see the Jazz declining Cody Williams` fourth year option next off season if he does not show much improvement this season, but it is too early to do it now.

Where is the article? Who does it talk about exactly? Pretty vague start, can we get some detail?

If you account for the "human factor" and "culture" it may not be madness to cut someone who is seriously underperforming just so that others and any future players joining here dont assume they automatically get 4 years to prove themselves.

However as you said Cody is probably the only one who qualifies for that "seriously underperforming" definition and cutting a top 10 pick after his rookie year is very harsh and risky way to make such a statement.

It's a fluff, click-bait article. All of these rookie player options are cheap and will be picked up. Duh, the Jazz have a lot of young players who are still developing and that is by design. This is exactly what the Jazz have been doing as a team in the last several seasons: trying to get many young players and give them time to develop.

The real decisions are what should they do about Nurkic, Love, Anderson and Niang.
