What's new

Game Thread Nov 13, 2025 07:00PM MT: Atlanta Hawks @ Utah Jazz

Added to Calendar: 11-13-25

yup we are officially in that no-man's land where Lauri is a lot better and means more to us, than he can command from other teams. it would take a Harper type deal (or Ausar and a couple firsts) for the Jazz to move him and the Spurs/Pistons simply won't do that.

basically he's impossible to move and that means he's been incredible for utah.

The Jazz were specifically leaving Okwongu wide open which seemed to be the game plan. It ended up not being a good game plan.
Also Kennard, Krejci and Johnson. So basically all their shooters.

Spurs should be offering Harper and a decent amount of picks imo. They have Fox and Castle. Dont need harper at all. Lauri would catapult them
Yeah. But no.

If Ainge calls and offers that, it will take 1/1000th of a second for them to hang up.

I would rather have Castle to be honest. He is playing great. Great defender averaging 19 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Gets to the line 7 times per game. Great size (6 foot 6) and just barely turned 21 years old. Yes please.

my dude is averaging 19, 6 and 8 - in his second season following up his ROY season - and he's a plus defender who can defend at least 3 positions. that's a pipe dream.
You beat me to it.

Ya the reason I suggested Harper was because I was trying to be more realistic and choose the more likely trade scenario.

Jazz already have three somewhat good PGs
What do they do if they get Castle or Harper?
They would have to make some more trades

Yes and no. In some ways we have 3 somewhat good point guards, but another way to look at it is we have 2 combo guards and a point guard who can't shoot. I think Keyonte could easily play off of Harper or Castle and a Keyonte, Harper or Castle, Ace, Kessler, 2026 pick is the makings of a very promising young core.

Lauri is a 30 PPG sharpshooting player who perfectly compliment Wemby and Fox. You cant get something good for nothing.

It makes sense for both sides. I doubt it happens, but I don't think it's crazy. Wemby is ready to compete for titles now. Their window to add another max contract player isn't open forever either.

Also, I'm personally not interested in trading Lauri for a million picks. I will only be ok with trading Lauri if it's for a young player with clear all star potential. I get that those players aren't typically available, but neither are guys as good as Lauri.

I'm not even going to say you're wrong. but 20 yo dudes of Castle's caliber (i mean, we're talking about a near 20 and 8, 6'6" elite athlete PG in his second season, who is a legit defender - those guys don't come around every day - as fish said, Harper might be more realistic than Castle and even he's not realistic at this point) are all but untouchable. first, their trade value is already ridiculously high, and now add the fact that their own team values them even more than they should and you get dudes that simply don't get moved. i'm not saying it's right (as i think you make a great point about Lauri's fit), i'm saying it's reality.

Last thing, I apologize. A trade like Lauri for Harper or Castle isn't unheard of, in fact it reminds me of the Wiggins for Kevin Love deal.

wiggins hadn't played an nba game making it nothing like Castle, perhaps a little like Harper. but all it takes is for a guy to look great in their own jersey and the coaches and front office become enamored and they over value already valuable commodities.

it's a lot easier to trade a guy who has never put on your jersey.

it would be extremely difficult, next to impossible even, for any team to pry Ace away from the Jazz, for example.

What we need to find is the next SGA-for-PG13 deal.
to me that was jalen johnson the year before last. there were some indications he might be special (and Lauri was two years younger), but it was still a risk for the team taking him because he wasn't anything to write home about yet.

the only way you get a guy like that is by taking a pretty significant risk. SGA for example was a 10, 2 and 2 guy who didn't shoot the three when OKC traded for him.

Yes, he's all that. He's also never played more than the 68 games he played in his rookie season and has averaged 56 games per season. And has never played in the playoffs. And regressed in a major way for the last seasons after his breakthrough.

And yeah, he's also due $195 million.

If the Jazz are demanding a price based on the last 12 games only, they won't find anyone even to have a discussion with.

I personally think a large number of competitive teams should try to trade for Lauri. However, every one of those front offices will think "yeah, sure, he's fantastic" and then put up all the red flags as well.

As far as Castle (very doubtful he would be traded), he is 6 foot 6 and can guard bigger dudes.

Lauri is the actual unicorn. Porz was fools gold.
Spurs would be amazing with Lauri and wouldn't miss Harper. Makes so much sense.

Do the Spurs want to win in 2-4 years or they want to win now?
