What's new

Would you guys want this guy to be our future PG?

He was a borderline max guy before his knee injury, and NOH/Stern didn't sign him to an extension (I'm assuming this makes him a FA after this year, but I'm not sure), so I think we could afford him if KOC can shed some salary (i.e. Harris' corpse). Anyways, I know he's technically a SG, but it's not like Westbrook is your typical PG and he's doing just fine.

Gordon
Burks
Hayward
Kanter
Favors

I think this lineup sprinkled with some savvy vets and two lottery picks could be really, really good in a few years.

Eric Gordon is a 2 guard. He is not a point guard. Also he will be restricted. We would have to make a big offer to get him. Would NO really lose the centerpiece to the Paul trade. Also his injuries this year would worry me.

Well NOH could have wrapped him up for the long term, but I guess they went the whole Jazz/Millsap route and are going to let the market dictate his value. And with the way PGs play now, I think Gordon could do just fine as a PG. He's only 6'3" which would make him a big PG a la DWill.

I'm not saying he's the top guy out there that I'd want to be our PG, but it doesn't look like any top tier PGs are coming into the league in the next year or two, so if you have a top PG you're going to do everything to hold on to them (or you're going to ask for a king's ransom to give one up), so if KOC wants to fix this thing he's going to have to think outside the box.

Wait... probably the wrong thread but I just saw that the MAX the Knicks can offer Lin is $5M this offseason. He's gone, provided he doesn't pull some loyalty to NYC bullshizzz. Possibility for Utah?

He should get about 10-13 million a year for 4/5 years. Which may be too rich for the Jazz. Especially considering him coming off missing nearly the entire season.

No. They offered a four year deal and he refused it.

It's in Lawler's Law's Daily Clipper column (here), but I thought it deserved a home of its own on the front page. Apparently Eric Gordon refused New Orleans Hornets latest contract extension. The offer was reportedly four years for around 51 million, which is around 12 million (plus raises) a year. Gordon will become a restricted free agent in the summer.

He probably should have taken it since he was out with a knee injury at the time it was offered.

He is a restricted free agent. Almost no chance at this point he leaves NY unless he tanks the rest of the season.

That is the max that any team can offer Lin. See the Arenas rule.

This

My choices (in order);

1) One of the truly few elite pure PG's in the league.
2) The best shooting combo guard we can find.
