2026 NBA Trade Discussion Thread

Not sure why people still think tanking teams are trading for guys to play now.
That was the point of the original post right? If Walker was not injured- we're already off into theoreticals- Walker uninjured gets them very near playoff territory, so they are no longer 'tanking' at that point. Which is also why the weird protections on Zubac- if they are forced to play him, they want to keep the hope of a lottery top 5- so I really think they are going to go ahead and try the rest of the season.

Not taking that Indiana package for Walker was a sizable mistake.

And I have no idea why they would’ve offered anything less for Walker. That weird protection scheme didn’t just happen this afternoon.

Praying we get a deal on re-signing him. We’re walking a tightrope here.

If Walker was healthy this would be the scenario in a trade for him:

The Pacers would tell him "Hey we want to trade for you, what # are you wanting in free agency", then Walker tells them the number, if they agree, they do the trade and they sit him. He gets paid everyone is happy.

They wouldnt just trade for him without any agreement to his price and just play him and see what happens.

Also, Walker is a good player, but he just doesnt make a tanker suddenly win games as evidence by the Jazz being the team with the worst record last year. They could easily just tank with him by not playing other players.

I'd say from the language of the tweet they probably weren't offering any of the current pick equity for Walker. If it's just 29 and 31 it's a LOT less appealing imo.

I wonder what Indiana will do...

If they were planning on tanking their asses off to season's end, why is the pick 10-30 protected.
