I have pondered this scenario, and I agree, it's a good idea. For one, we get a solid PASS FIRST point guard who can still play pretty decent D. I believe his contract is up either this year or next, so we're not locked into him long term. If his contract expires this year, we ditch Harris and get a half year rental. We free up nearly $10M in cap space for this summer to try and sign a good young point. If it's next season, we can play him, have him groom a young PG that we take in the lottery, and the possibly trade him at the deadline, or let him expire and use the cap space in 2013.
Win/win scenario in my opinion. Solid post.
