New Theories on Carroll?

Any one get why we signed Carroll?

Other than to upgrade the Jazz's street cred because of his dreadlocks?

It still feels like to me that we are going to trade a wing and we will need him for depth. Having him in practice and at the games should help him learn the system.

Combination of several things:

They had interest previously (including this season but he went to Denver instead)
He was availalble
He's cheap
Extra body if they start resting guys a bit more given the upcoming schedule
Teaching him the system now in case there's a trade

At first I thought there must have been an impending trade, but obviously that didn't happen. Now I just think he's in the same category as Jamaal Tinsley...extra body, but nice to have in case you decide to trade someone above him on the depth chart.
