Religious people take themselves so seriously. You do believe in the stuff I mentioned. Had I replaced my line about golden plates and magic stones with something like "compassion and family values" (which you also believe in), there would be no objections. You object to my tone because the thing I mentioned is indeed silly.

I never understood why people object to others mocking their religion. I mean, how many times have I heard "it's a matter of faith"? Doesn't that mean you believe in it despite its implausibility? I personally don't believe in it. So I feel comfortable pointing out that implausibility. I've yet to hear a reason why I SHOULDN'T mock religion, other than the good old "it makes me sad" argument.

Tell me why it's wrong to mock an idea that I find ridiculous, and I'll stop. The Black Swordsman keeps calling me stupid and talking about "atheist apologetics". You don't see me asking him to show some respect!

I am one of the least uptight people that you will meet. The only reason it bothers me is because you feel you need to belittle them. Take any subject and those that have to belittle them are sad.

Yes you are joking but you also believe they are stupid.

I don't believe religious people are stupid. Colton is a Mormon and a fantastic physicist. Dalamon is a pleasure to talk to, and the main reason I try to tone it down (yes, that's me trying). I do however, think that religion is full of stupid, and obviously false, ideas. I also think the harm religion does far outweighs any good it provides. It follows that I treat those ideas like any others I strongly disagree with.

There was a thread about the economy sometime back, and I got into a heated argument with Gameface and others over some issues. Nobody asked the other to shut up and respect their ideas. Why should they? Ideas have no protection from debate or even mockery. I don't see why religion is an exception. Give me a moral reason why religion is exempt from mockery, and I'll re-evaluate my position.

I'll give you an example. Mocking people for physical or circumstantial characteristics is wrong. Size of nose, or birth marks have no inherent value, and are outside of anyone's control.

It's 365 not 356. Ya there are 345 days in the Muslim Lunar calendar but there are 365 days in the Muslim solar calendar. Also the singular word for day is repeated 365 times, the plural word "days" is listed 30 times, the amount of days in an average lunar cycle.

Atheists think that religious people are dumb, and religious people think that he will go to hell. I think that's an even exchange. I let atheist people think that I am dumb it is ok. Qur'an 8:31 states (And when Our verses are recited to them, they say, "We have heard. If we willed, we could say [something] like this. This is not but legends of the former peoples.")

I guess maybe I just misinterpreted your intentions. I am all for ****ing with someone but I will not belittle people and that is how you came off to me.
