The Midnight

Finally after an extended wait - nearly 3/4 of the season gone, we're witnessing what our young guys can achieve.

No matter what we say about Ty, KOC, etc, etc..sticking with the old vets, etc, etc.. I think we've got to finally hand it to them. Our young guys have developed well under limited but "meaningful minutes" and under the tutelage of the vets. It seems the strategy is paying off with Kanter & Burks performing well under pressure in extended minutes. Favors look more than ready as an NBA starter as well.

YES!!

nah the moment big al and bell come back.
it will be bussiness as suual 10 minutes for kanter and favors each.
and a couple of dnps for burks

That's what I fear. I was hoping, perhaps, that some of the vets were playing more before the deadline to increase their trade value. We haven't really had a chance to test that theory. If only Bell and CJ could take turns being injured!

Al & Bell will ruin it.

These last few games have been the most fun in 2 years.

We have had Hayward carry a game, Favor several games and Burks.

I like Hayward as a permanent 6th man.

I want Burks to start for Bell.

My only concern when Burks (hopefully) gets his start, his Al taking all the shots. Burks maybe aggressive enough to take his. anyway.

Burks won this game.

Could be.. but my point was more that the "patience" approach Ty and KOC has taken with our young players seemed to have paid off. They play with poise, concentration and refined energy that they'd cumulated from their limited roles in "meaningful minutes".

It's a good sign - shows they they could step up when called upon - against a quality team in the Lakers no less.

I really hope Al gets less minutes after what Favors and Kanter have beasted through the past 2 days.
Both with career nights. I was getting uncomfortable about Kanter...but man he did the best tonight on Bynum by far.

The 4 of them together are amazing at defense.
Kanter's wide body and Favor's lengthy arms compliment each other.
If you've ever played basketball against a very obese guy, then you know what Kanter does on the court defensively.

Fat guys are my #1 pickup basketball nemesis, next to old guys who camp the 3 point line and don't miss.

Last time I played hoops on Thursday, I got dominated inside by a big guy like Kanter. He wasn't fat but he wasn't nearly as explosive as the other guy I had been playing for the other games. The other guy tried to drive and just outjump me. I'm not Jeremy Evans by any means, but the big guy definitely killed me more than the athletic guy. No matter what I did I couldn't stop that dude from dumping me under the basket and putting in an easy dump shot (exactly like Kanter). On the flip side, my jumper wasn't going down and he didn't go with any of my fakes. He just camped in the paint and waited for me to run into him and lose the ball.

I got Kantered for most of that game. Sucked.

Wow; no Jefferson or Watson, 2 of our steadiest players out, and on the road in LA. Kanter, Burks, Favors, Harris, and Millsap all stepped up big time. LIKE!
